How was Jaipuria Institiute of Mangement evolved over the years?

We have a legacy of almost 67 years in education. The Jaipuria family has been involved in education since 1945. In 1995 we decided to open our first B-school Lucknow.

At the time there were very few quality B-schools and with this thought in mind we opened our first B-school in Lucknow. Our emphasis has always been on creation of value in students. If you compare us to other B-schools, we always try to have the best faculty and the best infrastructure and a close interaction with the industry. So when students enter the school, from day one they have a flavour of the industry. Our faculty includes 90-plus professors. Of these, 63 are with PhD degrees.

What programmes are being offered at Jaipuria and what new programmes are you planning to launch in the coming years?

We are running PGDM programmes at all four campuses. This is an AICTE approved programme. We are not running any programme that is not approved. In this programme students can choose between specializations finance, marketing and HR. in some campuses we have IT and operations as well. We are also offering industry specific specialized programmes. In Lucknow we offer PGDM (Retail Management) and PGDM (Financial Services). In Noida we are offering two other specialised programmes i.e; PGDM (Marketing) and PGDM (Service Management).

How is the Institute faring on the placement front?

We are conducting placements in a centralized manner. We have a team at the head office as well as on the campuses that approach corporate with whom we have established a relationship over a long period of time, as well as new corporate. The placement cell comprises people whose core competence is in corporate relations. They interact with corporate the year round and try to involve them in the institute.

How has your placement record been?

Our placement records has been very good in comparison to that of most other institutes. During the past few years we have been able to place close to 95% students in good organizations. The question is whether the percentage is important or the quality. We believe that we should not compromise the quality of placement. We do not force students to join a particular company, rather we provide them a choice and counsel them, so that they join the company where they can part their skills to best use.
