Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur organized an Industrial Visit at Bosch Limited, Jaipur on November 28, 2012. Mr. Santosh Joseph, Asst. Manager (Human Resources) briefed about the company. He explained about the overall functioning and manufacturing of Bosch. Being a German company Bosch has a widespread market in Europe but is also expanded in other parts of the world like America, South Africa, Asia, etc. Bosch is named after its founder Mr. Robert Bosch who invented the magneto technology for cars. The company deals in the manufacturing of spare parts for cars. Most of the car companies are associated with Bosch like Honda, Tata, Renault, Audi etc. It manufactures pumps for those vehicles which run on diesel in the Jaipur plant. It provides automotive electronics, gasoline system, car multimedia, diesel system etc. Their market is so widespread that almost no car is made without Bosch. The main business scales are automotive, industrial, consumer goods and building technology.”Cordless Driller” is their latest innovation. In India there are 6 Companies present as REBI, Rexroth, RBAI, RBIN, RBIC, and RBDI. The major works come from RBIN. In Jaipur plant Bosch manufactures VE mechanical and the VE EDC Pumps. The applications of these PUMPS are in tractor, bus, van, HCV, SUV, MUV etc. The motive of Bosch is not to generate profit but to be socially responsible and produce quality products with innovation. The students were shown their working and manufacturing process. They were also shown how operations were handled with a very large workforce and how 2000 pumps were manufactured in 24 hours daily without any errors. This was indeed a great learning experience for the students.
