Juhi Sharma was clear that she wanted to earn her postgraduate degree in Management from one of the best management institutes in the country, and that brought her to Jaipuria Indore. Juhi comes from the city of Ujjain and did her graduation in Commerce (B.Com Hons.) from Vikram University, Ujjain. She joined the PGDM programme at Jaipuria Indore with dual specialisation in HR and Marketing.
Summer internships are not only an academic requirement at Jaipuria, but are also looked upon as an opportunity to learn in a live environment. Juhi did her summer internship with Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. in Dewas. Her project was a research-based assignment, wherein she interacted with supervisors in the department to understand their perception of the Performance Appraisal Policy. “I learnt a lot about the HR policies framed in Ranbaxy Laboratories and got the opportunity to learn from the General Manager himself and all other employees working in several departments at Ranbaxy”, says Juhi. She thinks that the internship has enabled and enhanced her analytical thinking and decision-making skills, apart from the functional insights she now has. “My internship will have a positive impact on my future plans and aspirations, because this is the first time I have been introduced to some practical work done in the Human Resource Department of a Manufacturing Industry.”
Placements and internships are completely organised, planned and supported functions at Jaipuria. As Juhi says, “I got a lot of support from my faculty mentor, Prof. Megha Jain. Throughout my internship, I relied on her advice and guidance, especially when I was facing problems”. Every student receives individual attention towards personality development from the faculty mentor. Students are also encouraged to participate in conclaves and seminars being held at Jaipuria as well as other colleges. There are mock interviews on campus before the students are faced with the corporate campus interviews. Students also go through several group discussions and are taught to write professional job applications and statements of purpose. Soft skills training ensure that students understand grooming and body language, among other communication skills.
Juhi is a hard-working student who reaps the benefits of her education in the form of her college rankings and grades. She is actively involved in sports and cultural events in the college. She loves the diversity that the hostel on the campus offers, and feels this adds to the entire learning experience. She believes that Jaipuria is one of the best MBA colleges in the country , not only in terms of the academic excellence, but also owing to the overall development it is able to foster. “Jaipuria gave me lot of confidence and the kind of positive energy that will help me do well in future. Thanks to efforts like the Young Enterprise Mentorship Programme and Summer Internship Programme, I now have the strength to face the corporate world.” An avid reader and movie lover, Juhi is on her way to making a mark in the field of HR, and is confident of her success.
