“The continuous interaction with my mentor, Dr. Vir Ved Ratna – professor in strategy and marketing at Jaipuria Lucknow – gave me immense confidence during placements.”

Ashish Nayan has become a part of the history of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. Ashish, who has been placed as Management Trainee – Marketing, at Polyplex Corporation Limited, is the first student of the 2011-13 batch to be placed. Polyplex is the world’s fourth largest manufacturer of thin polyester film, with manufacturing facilities across India, Thailand and Turkey.

“I will be joining Polyplex Corporation as a Management Trainee. On the completion of my training period, I will be handling B2B Marketing as a Manager. My role at Polyplex will include handling current customers, increasing the sales of Polyplex by targeting prospects and developing new business opportunities in the market.”

Ashish points out that although around five companies had visited the Jaipuria Lucknow campus before Polyplex Corporation did, the selection process was speedier for Polyplex, bringing him the honour of being the ‘first-placed’ of the 2011-13 batch.
“The GD & PI process was conducted in a really smooth way. The recruiters representing Polyplex were thorough professionals who were absolutely clear about the kind of person they were looking for. They were very supportive right through the process.”
Ashish Nayan believes that the credit for his placement goes entirely to the faculty and his colleagues at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow.

“The support provided by the faculty throughout the placement season was exceptional. It helped me a lot during my placement process. The continuous interaction with my mentor, Dr. Vir Ved Ratna – Professor in Strategy and Marketing at Jaipuria Lucknow – gave me immense confidence during placements.”

With his own placement decided, Ashish is now assisting his batchmates through mock interviews and practice GDs. He acknowledges that Jaipuria Institute of Management has been a great RoI (Return on Investment) for him in every way. A placement in a company of the stature of Polyplex Corporation has been a great confidence-booster for him. Ashish’s affection and respect for Jaipuria Lucknow is deep-rooted, almost to the extent of worship. With a great performance on the academic front as well as contributions to almost every cultural activity during his time at Jaipuria Lucknow, Ashish has been one of the star students of his course.

“It was not simply that I was very good so I did well on all fronts; it was Jaipuria Lucknow that provided me with those opportunities. You’re at Jaipuria Lucknow for your PG – there is no place for spoon-feeding. It is a perfect environment for a PGDM. There are daily assignments of some sort or the other that keep you clued-in.”

Ashish is positive that with the number of companies visiting the Jaipuria Lucknow campus, this year is going to see record-breaking placements for them.

“Jaipuria Indore’s ‘first-of-its-kind-in-asia’ digital campus has pulled many corporate houses to us during summer placements.”

Rajni Celestina Kispotta has always had a strong creative side to whatever she has done in life. Right through school in the steel city, Jamshedpur, and college at St. Xavier’s Ranchi – where she did her B.Com – Rajni kept on amassing trophies and medals for pot painting, glass painting, gardening, etc. In fact, as a college girl, she turned her flair for candle making into a small business that took care of expenses.

“It was at Jaipuria Indore that I finally found a larger-than-life platform to hone my skills in different areas. I’ve either been a part of promoting or coordinating mega-events like the ‘National Business Olympiad’, ‘Encore – 2’, ‘Budget Analysis’, ‘Milan’. I’ve not let go of a single opportunity to represent my college; be it for social causes like the ‘1Rupees Abhiyaan’ organised by ‘93.5 MY FM’, ‘SHE Marathon – save a girl child’ organised by AIESEC, or being a teacher at the evening school initiative ‘Ugam – enlightening the path’, at Jaipuria Indore.”

With her exceptional communication talents, Rajni is one of the hotshot campus journalists as a part of the ‘Media Relation Club’, which takes care of branding and media activities for Jaipuria Indore.

“Jaipuria Indore was not at all a difficult choice for me to make. The fully residential Indore branch is new, but Jaipuria brand is well established. The unique pedagogical tools and a fully digitised campus is a great boon. Especially our first-of-its-kind-in-Asia digital campus, which has pulled many corporate houses to us during summer placements.”

Rajni believes this helped her land a plum summer internship at Tata Cummins Ltd., Jamshedpur. Since she is specialising in Human Resource and Marketing, she gained hand-on experience through a project on ‘Process Mapping of Attendance and Payroll System’. Of course, with a girl as active as Rajni, this was not enough, so she’s found more avenues at Jaipuria Indore. ‘Social Media’, ‘Tata First Dot powered by NEN’ and ‘Vocabulary ka Dhaba’ are just some of the workshops she has attended to upgrade her skills.

“Jaipurians have a totally different life after classes. We enjoy the teamwork assignments – especially the last minute rush to submit one’s assignment before the 11:59 pm deadline. We love having dinner and breakfast together on the long tables in our Mess, fighting for a papad! Watching movies after completing the assignment is a great stress-buster – so what if our movies start at 12:30 pm,” says Rajni with a twinkle in her eye.

Rajni Kispotta feels that the faculty at Jaipuria Indore is easily the finest she has come across. This is not simply because of their immense academic and industrial experience, but because of their humane response to the students’ concerns.

“As a matter of fact, our faculty is far more concerned about our placements that we ourselves are. They are always on the ball, taking us through regular mock interviews, GDs, quizes and aptitude tests. That is how I was able to effectively crack the telephonic interview with representatives of Tata Cummins Ltd., Jamshedpur.”

With the first placement season at Jaipuria Indore around the corner, Rajni is surprisingly assured about the prospects. She is confident that with the kind of interest shown by industry towards Jaipuria Indore, her course will register a 100% placement.

Encore-3 Keeps Jaipuria Indore Enthralled

A report by Snehlata Kashyap, MRC Member

Jaipuria Indore hosted ‘Encore 3’ recently, a fun and entertainment filled day for all students and faculty members of the institute. The inaugural session was a ‘Presentation, Design and Delivery’ contest. It began with undergraduates making presentations and was taken forward by post graduate students and finally, by the professionals. The fun factor went up a notch with skits and role plays and the high point of the day came with “Karne Hum Chale MBA”, an album launched at the venue. Honoured guest Mr. Puneet Saluja, Capt. Jaison Thomas, Col. Neeraj Varshney, Mr. Sandeep Atre, Mr. Kinshuk Trivedi and Director J. P. Upadhay launched the music album amidst loud cheers and merriment. The music track had been rendered by Geet Malhotra and Nischay Jamwale, the duo which has composed and put together the whole album. Both students are pursuing a PGDM (2012-13) at Jaipuria Indore and were ecstatic as they said, “We want to thank the entire faculty, especially Prof. Kanak Gupta, for always supporting us and promoting our interest”.

Along with these presentations, the entire campus was converted into the venue for a fete. It was beautifully decorated and there were various stalls for clothing, food and games – all manned by students. After the presentations, everyone came out to relax and enjoy themselves at these stalls. There was a “Litti chokha” stall for those who wanted a taste of Bihar, set up by Piyush, Rahul and Monika. They decided to turn their culinary skills and hobby into something worthy and had all visitors licking their fingers in delight. Everyone, including the Director himself, lined up to taste the yummy litti chokha! Monika shared her successful recipe saying, “We were successful due to our hard work and love for cooking. We Jaipurians are all-rounders in every field!”

The games stalls were set up by Ayush, Tapesh, Vikash and Snehlata. Their concept was a really simple one, based on the finance principle of “the higher the risk, the higher the returns”. The player was supposed to hit a row of glasses with a ball and double his money. This attracted a large crowd of all those keen to make a quick buck – including some faculty members.

Ruchita Agarwal showcased her entrepreneurial skills by putting up a clothing stall with the help of her parents. She offered woolens, blankets, T-shirts and formals. For her, it was wonderful experience and she is working hard to set up her own business. Her parents were happy to set up a stall in the Jaipuria campus and were completely supportive of their daughter.

The evening brought its own share of hype and excitement, with a DJ and dancing. All the students, faculty and guests were on the floor in no time. A bonfire brought some warmth to the winter chill and delicious food and sweets completed the evening. The floor became enthused when news of the placement at a good package of two senior students was passed on, Encore-3 was a huge success and the organising body of students and faculty left no stone unturned to ensure it was so!

“I wanted to specialise in marketing and therefore, Jaipuria institute of management, Noida was my first choice.”

As her name suggest, Eureka Dandapath is a Bengali by origin, although by place of birth and upbringing, she is through-and-through Rajasthani. Eureka, who grew up in Jodhpur, shifted to Jaipur for her B.Tech in IT.

“I did not really want to pursue a career in coding. The options are very limited and sooner or later, one has to acquire a Management degree to climb up the corporate ladder. Since all my near and dear ones shared my point of view, I decided to go for an MBA after my Engineering. I wanted to specialise in Marketing and therefore, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida was my first choice. “

Eureka is the live-wire of her course. Even as a 1st year student, she has made her presence felt in the Marketing Club, the IT Club and the Dramatics Club at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida.

“In the last six months, I have taken part in several competitions and was also a part of three stage-plays. I was also part of a very interesting initiative on Friendship Day, which we decided to make a lot more special than just the usual handing out of friendship bands. A few of us close friends got together and organised a small charity event on Friendship Day at Jaipuria Noida. We sold cakes and chocolates, and whatever profit we made was distributed in the form of small gifts to orphan kids. It was a good learning experience for me because the profit from this venture was quite good.”

In fact Eureka, along with two of her friends, also won the keenly contested ‘Ad Mad Show’ at Jaipuria Noida. This intra-institute competition at Jaipuria, Noida is a real humdinger of an affair, where students are encouraged to come up with the most innovative and bizarre advertising campaigns for ear-marked products.

This win certainly seems like a good omen for Eureka’s future plans. “I would like to see myself as a Marketing Manager in a reputed organisation two years from now. I’m absolutely positive that with the kind of faculty pool that is available to us at the Jaipuria Institute of Management, this dream will turn into a reality for me. It’s not just their immense subject knowledge or industry-immersed teaching methods; what concerns them more is that everybody in the classroom is on the same page. They are very helpful and whenever needed, they are there to guide us.”

Eureka is now looking forward to live projects, industrial exposure and a strong SIP. She believes that this will help her supplement her classroom teaching with on-ground application, and will create the necessary grounds for a fruitful placement. She is quite impressed with the presence of major corporate houses during the ongoing placement season for her seniors at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida.
