Nidhi Goel of Jaipuria Noida bags lucrative placement with Rockstand Digital and is on her way to realising her dreams

Only when you dream big do you realise great heights of success, they say. Nidhi Goel, a small-town girl from Agra seems to have lived by the adage because her aspirations were always high. With stars in her eyes, Nidhi came to Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida to pursue a PGDM in Marketing and International Business. Her move has already paid off, because she has landed a placement with Rockstand Digital, where she will be drawing a salary of 7 lakh INR.

Needless to say, Nidhi, who did her Bachelors in another small town of Indore, is looking forward to claiming new horizons and making them her own. The fact that she has got placed even before she has completed her PGDM programme is no mean feat. The handsome remuneration she will be drawing is simply the icing on the cake. Nidhi is thrilled with the latest development and she beams with confidence as she says, “It’s something I have worked really hard for and now it has paid off. I am ready to take on the challenges of my new career. This is the first step, which will take me to the stage I want to be at.”

It was her interest in knowing more about the marketing strategies that are used to compete at the national and international levels that made Nidhi take up a course in Marketing and International Business. And Jaipuria Noida became the obvious choice for her to pursue her goals. “Jaipuria Institute of Management was at the top of the list for me because of its education system, discipline, good infrastructure, fantastic curriculum, experienced faculty and most of all, its excellent placement records,” she says. Now Nidhi’s name will be added to the list of students from Jaipuria Noida who have bagged plum placements. Talking about her job profile and position at Rockstand Digital, she says, “I want to be involved in the field of marketing and I have been offered the position of Management Trainee with the company. I am excited about working with a dynamic new venture that has social platforms because they are a rage with people of all ages today.”

Nidhi won the placement after a rigorous selection process that involved an interview, which she prepared for thoroughly. About her strategy for the all-important interview, she says, “I had gathered as much information about the company as I could and that gave me confidence. I entered the room with the mind-set that I would not let the interviewers close the interview.” The strategy clearly worked for Nidhi and clinched things in her favour.

But Nidhi is quick to add that none of this would have happened without the support of and learning at her institute. “The contribution of the faculty members in whatever I have managed to do today is unquestionable. They have focussed not only on theoretical learning but practical experiences as well, which have helped me immensely. From group discussions to mock interviews, several techniques were used to build our confidence and that has let me find my voice,” says Nidhi gratefully.

She also sees a lot of merit in professional courses like the one she chose in today’s highly competitive world. “You can only attain intricate knowledge about a subject once you do a specialised course like this one. The PGDM is a course which makes you eligible and worthy of knowing the real professional world out there and getting the job you dream of,” she explains.

Now that she has bagged her dream job, Nidhi has plans in place for the future. “I want to showcase two vital elements of my personality; individuality and creativity at work. I believe it’s important to be creative but you have to stand by the work you do as well,” she says. With one dream realized, this small town girl now hopes to make a difference on the international platform in the future.

Jaipuria Noida Placement Update

Jamshedpur boy Jagpreet Singh Hanspal of Jaipuria Institute of Management recruited by Deloitte

Growing up in the industrial town of Jamshedpur, Jagpreet Singh Hanspal dreamt of the big wide world beyond its horizons. In his own words, he wanted to have new experiences at every step of his journey in life. And now this PGDM student of Batch 2014 of Jaipuria Institute of Management has taken a huge step forward in his professional career. He has bagged a placement with Deloitte and will be drawing a handsome package of 4.5 lakh INR.

It is not just the placement and remuneration that has got Jagpreet excited. He is also thrilled with the fact that he has been offered the position of Tax Consultant, which is right up his street. “I have always had a keen interest in finance. I have studied Tax, especially Corporate Tax, during my graduation. Hence I am looking forward to giving this job my best shot. There will be challenges along the way, but I believe they will bring out the best in me,” says Jagpreet confidently.

He admits that his confidence stems from his learning at Jaipuria, as it has shaped his personality and attitude. According to Jagpreet, there were a few qualities that shone through during the crucial placement interview and he attributes them to his academic experience at the institute. “Leadership skills, communication skills, concept clarity, team player abilities and adaptability were some of the qualities they were looking for. And I think I possess them all, because as a Jaipurian you cannot escape imbibing those skills,” he elaborates.

Jagpreet recounts activities like quizzes, practical assignments, rigorous case studies, daily corporate interfaces and regular presentations that boosted his academic and overall learning experience as a management student. Not only did they help him understand the concepts of management well, they also taught him the importance of time management. Clearly, he hit the bulls-eye when he had sat to deliberate on the college to do his PGDM from.

Explaining his reasons for making this all-important decision that has brought him to the place where he is today, Jagpreet says, “It’s an AICTE approved institute situated in the industrial hub of Noida. I knew it would mean that the best companies would come to campus for placements. That made it an easy decision for me to make.” Clearly, his reasoning was spot on, given that even as a fresher, he has now bagged a placement with a company like Deloitte.

Jagpreet understands the importance of a professional course like his PGDM to gain a competitive edge in today’s job market. “It arms you with the knowledge and attitude to take on the competitive world out there. You learn to deal with and overcome real world problems through practical learning. Importantly, you realise your strengths and understand your weaknesses,” he says. With refreshing candour, Jagpreet admits that one might not know all the answers in an interview, but it’s important to accept that with honesty. That is his advice to fellow students as well, as he says, “You are not expected to know everything. But you are expected to be yourself. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not in the interview as you will get found out. Be yourself and be confident; it will take you a long way.” The mantra certainly seems to be working for Jagpreet.

Geetika Goyal, the small-town girl from Moradabad, on the threshold of big success at Zomato

Geetika Goyal’s is the story of a small-town girl with dreams of big cities. Born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Geetika had the opportunity to spend 12 years in a hostel in Dehradun till she finished tenth standard. Thereafter, on the basis of sheer hard work and academic excellence, Geetika finished her engineering and joined Wipro. “I got placed in-campus in Wipro after finishing my engineering, and I worked there for a period of one year in the Hyderabad campus. But my working at a multinational company made me realise how important a management degree is in the work space.” So was the shift from professional life to academics once again and this time at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida.

She explored and got call letters from several management institutes. However, she chose Jaipuria Institute of Management owing to its excellent faculty, impressive infrastructure and campus, and student feedback she gathered from the alumni. “I chose Jaipuria over other colleges, because of the culture of education here, among other things”.

An excellent student, who maintained a CGPA of 3.51/4 throughout her four semesters, Geetika was offered a placement with Zomato on the campus itself. She is joining them as Marketing and Sales Manager and is absolutely thrilled about it. “This job requires me to take up challenges on an everyday basis. It demands that I meet new people, talk to them, negotiate with them, and manage customer relationships. It will be fun while working because it fulfills my biggest hobby of meeting new people and building long-term relationships.”

In the current highly competitive environment, Geetika believes that a degree in management not only imparts learning, it also creates confidence in the employer’s mind during the process of recruitment. “A Masters degree in Management helps a company decide that you can run some part of their business with the course structure that you have learnt during your course. And the kick-start that you get in a job at the beginning lets you climb the ladder of success later, because the beginning is the first step of every person’s career. Once you start well, you are bound to create a bright future.”

Geetika attributes her success to a lot of people and factors, including her institute and faculty. “Several things worked in my favour — my ability to communicate well, international exposure during the Switzerland Exchange Programme, leadership skills that I displayed by winning various debate competitions, consistent hard work I put in to score 3.51/4.00 percentile in PGDM and, of course, my luck!” She has set her sights on becoming an entrepreneur, but she plans to work for some good organisations and gain some experience before setting off on her own.
