Amanjot Kaur of Class 2017-2019 wants to join the league of the successful women HR professionals of today

Amanjot Kaur joined Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida with the hopes of finding her place in the industry of professional giants and stalwarts. Having spent a substantial amount of time deliberating on why do a PGDM, Amanjot realised that her ultimate passion lies in forging herself as a successful HR professional. What was once considered to be a highly male dominated sector is now dotted with astounding women running the show. Amanjot wants to add to the list of names. Therefore, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida happened.

When she entered the college campus for the first time, her attention was immediately drawn towards the huge wall that had last Class of graduates’ placement records boldly displayed on it. Amanjot never learnt to settle for less. Her instant resolution was to see herself up there by the time she completes her PGDM in the year of 2019. Over a free-wheeling interview, she exclaims- “I am going to make these 2 years very memorable and not let a single opportunity slip my hand. I will do everything it takes to make my parents proud and make myself a socially responsile, successful professional in the world of Human Resources.” With an agenda as clear and focused as that, Amanjot definitely is in for a phenomenal PGDM journey with the school.

Amanjot understads the rigorous currciculum that awaits her. When asked about the passion or the hobby she wants to stick to no matter the insane amount of work stress, pat came her reply- “my passion for dancing. I dance a lot. I love dancing beyond words can explain.” Amanjot chuckled while adding- “In fact, I’ve also got a lot of awards for my performances and I want to carry on with it through the student club here at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida.”

Unraveling the National Entrepreneurship Award (NEA) with Prof. Satyajit Majumdar, the esteemed core committee member of NEA

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow recently organized an outreach program to spread awareness about the National Entrepreneurship Awards. Under the guidance of Prof. Vijay Prakash Anand and Prof. Jatin Srivastava, the award briefing session aimed to sensitize young entrepreneurs about the awards that were established last year. Prof. Satyajit Majumdar from TISS was the guest speaker for the session that offered participants insights into different aspects of the award.

With over three decades of professional experience, Prof. Majumdar is an esteemed member of the core committee of National Entrepreneurship Awards. The guest speaker started his enlightening talk by giving participants a brief overview of the awards. He then touched upon eligibility, vision, procedure of application, and categories of Youth Entrepreneurship Awards.

“National Entrepreneurship Awards are a part of entrepreneurship policy by Government of India. Seven top institutes including IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur etc were invited by the Ministry to design the awards. The first awards were held last year in the presence of Honorable Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh,” explained Prof. Satyajit Majumdar to the audience. It reflected the emphasis GOI has laid on the awards, which were followed up by a review meeting earlier this year.

Prof. Majumdar stressed on the fact that the awards are meant for young entrepreneurs with the age limit set to 30 years by the Cabinet. “The vision of these awards is to keep the spirit of enterprise alive in the youth of our country and to keep them motivated.” He iterated that while there can be only one winner, active participation of young entrepreneurs in itself is a huge success for the much talked about awards.

The conversation was taken forward by Mr. Ravidas Durwas, who talked further about the 17 categories of the awards. They also constitute of 6 recognitions; 3 each for private and Government recognitions. 2 special recognitions – Social enterprise and Barefoot enterprise are also a part of the awards. Young Entrepreneurs present in the gathering then introduced themselves. The event ended with a Q & A session with Mr. Majumdar, making it a truly enriching experience for all.

Alumni Mr. Sanjay Mehta engaged the students over a riveting session of "what to expect" once you join the industry

Alum Mr. Sanjay Mehta of Class 2014 has an air of charisma and candour around him. He is currently working as the Cluster Credit Manager with Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, New Delhi. He is a key trainer for implementation of new RBI guidelines for the company he joined after graduation. In the session held on July 24th, he talked about his growth as a professional and revealed what it takes to have a successful corporate career.

Since he was in their shoes not long ago, it wasn’t difficult for Mr. Mehta to establish easy camaraderie with the audiences during the Alumni interface session, a regular feature at the institute. These sessions motivate students and help them learn from their alum’s experiences. It was interesting to know that the guest speaker had bagged the highest placement package amongst his batch. He shared his placement experience with the students and offered them tips to give it their best shot.

Mr. Mehta has built on that platform and today is member of key committee managing business in the region for his employers. He attributed his success to the power of listening. “You can listen to 500 words but speak only 225 words in a minute. When you listen, you learn. You need to have good listening abilities to reach the next level,” he shared his mantra. According to him another important attribute that helps you do well professionally is the ability to communicate effectively.

It was a lively session with a lot of interaction between the Guest speaker and the students. Mr. Mehta drew from his own experiences at Jaipuria, Jaipur and stressed on the importance of peer learning and understanding one’s passions to do well as a professional. “Jaipuria, Jaipur offers you an excellent platform to grow and become a finished product, both professionally and personally. Grades matter but if you find your identity, success will be yours,” he ended on an encouraging note.
