Dr. Goyal brings over 25 years of industry experience in senior executive positions in international markets and over ten years of experience in Academia as Professor and Adjunct Faculty at leading B-Schools in India and the UAE. Dr. Goyal holds a Doctoral degree (FPM) in Strategic Management from the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurugram, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Auburn University, USA, and a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra.

Dr. Goyal’s doctoral research is in the area of corporate governance and Board performance. Using Design Science Research (DSR) methodology and the Delphi technique, he has worked with twenty-four Board members to first design and then validate an artifact (Balanced Scorecard) for working with determinants of Board performance in the context of corporate governance of firms.

Dr. Goyal started his career in the industry as a front-line salesperson in 1988 in India. He has since worked his way up to top management positions in MNC, start-ups, and promoter-driven environments across four continents. During this period, he has built institutions, led and managed multi-billion dollar businesses, set up new ventures, and incubated high-performing teams. He has held customer-facing field assignments, managed central support functions, and led multi-functional and culturally diverse teams.

He has worked with products, platforms, hardware, software, infrastructure, and professional services. He has been responsible for business development, pre-& post-sales support, marketing, product management, services, and P&L. He has driven strategic corporate initiatives, integrated acquired companies, led a major organizational transformation, and managed accreditation, government & industry liaison in highly developed as well as emerging economies of Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.

Over the last ten years, Dr. Goyal has been part of Academia as Professor and Adjunct Faculty at leading B-Schools of India and the UAE – IMT, MDI, IIFT, XLRI, ISB, IIM (L-NOIDA). He teaches full-term core and elective courses, delivers guest and visiting lecturers, and conducts Executive Education & Leadership Training programs for undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programs. In his most recent assignment, Dr. Goyal has been leading the School of Management at a premier private University in the Northern Capital Region of India as a Professor and Dean.

Dr. Goyal has a number of certifications to his credit – Executive Education at ISB, Hyderabad, Columbia Business School, New York, USA, and the London Business School, London, UK. He is a Life Member of the All India Management Association, Fellow of the Indian Institute of Directors, Fellow, Australian Sales Institute, Associate Fellow, Australian Institute of Management, an Accredited Management Teacher of the All India Management Association, and Certified Corporate Directorship of the Institute of Directors, India.

Dr. Goyal’s teaching and research interests are in the area of corporate strategy, organizational leadership, marketing, international business, institutional selling, business models, corporate governance, and Board performance.
