Dr. Nitin Merh is an Associate Professor in the IT Department of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore. He was recently conferred with the Best PhD Thesis award on February 11, 2012 at the PIMR International Conference in Indore. Professor Merh feels that Jaipuria Institute of Management has the right academic environment, not just for students but for faculty members to blossom as well. A winner of the 2007-08 Best Teacher Award by Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore, Professor Nitin Merh easily changes his teaching style and adapts it to the topic he is teaching.
“Case analysis, real life situations, role-plays, projects, open house discussions… I try to engage my students with every possible teaching tool. At the end of the day, my teaching and mentoring efforts should leave a smile on the faces of my students. While Dr. Nitin Merh is an academician by choice, he is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to interact with industry. He believes that this approach ensures that students of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore are industry-relevant when they pass out.
“Over my 15 years as an academician, I have attended a number of case-writing workshops, where I try to understand the issues that an organization is facing. Along with this, I make it a point to be present during interface sessions between industry and Jaipuria Institute of Management, as well as for industry visits.”
Dr. Merh has been instrumental in organising a number of seminars on latest issues related to IT and Business Analytics in the corporate world. He has organised workshops on creating applications of database management systems. His favourite subjects are Management Information System, Forecasting and Business Analytics Database Management System. An extensive researcher, Dr. Merh has quite a few papers to his credit, which have been published in international journals. He is currently researching Time series forecasting using techniques of artificial neural networks and econometrics tools.
Beyond his classroom commitments at Jaipuria Indore, Dr. Merh spends his time reading the Bhagavada Gita, exploring data related to his research, conceiving new ideas for research and listening to music.
