Megha Jain believes strongly in student participation and interaction in her class for optimum learning. A young professional herself, she brought two years of industry experience to her academic life, where she has now spent eight years. Currently, she is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics & International Business. She holds a PhD in economics and an MBA in International Business.

Jaipuria Indore has been a cherished experience for Megha, one that she is enjoying immensely. “Working with Jaipuria Indore is an experience of a lifetime! The best part of the system is that it keeps on updating processes and synchronizes itself with the benchmark institutes across the world”, she shares. She adds, “The culture in academics, especially in good B-schools, has seen a paradigm shift. The culture is almost in line with the corporate world, perhaps even much more rigorous and demanding. But at the same time academics is different, here you enjoy the flexibility of bringing more creativity to your work and grow everyday by learning new things. There are so many dimensions to explore and expand one’s potential, such as creative teaching, Management Development Programmes, Research and Consultancy; all of these things give you immense satisfaction, and you find you are growing as an individual.”

Another part of academic life that Megha is pleased about is the constant interaction with the young students, from whom she believes she learns a lot. Megha has also conducted MDPs along with the Office of MSME on Export Marketing and Export Procedures as part of her responsibilities at Jaipuria Indore. She is certified by National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and conducts workshops on entrepreneurship development in the institute as well as in coordination with NEN. Megha is the coordinator for the Corporate Interface Cell at the institute. Her profile includes the activities that enhance Industry-Academia Interface and create placement opportunities for students. In addition, she also chairs the Industry Mentorship Programme – ‘Chisel’, under which the institute sends students to different industries for short-term projects, as well as for them to be mentored by companies. Megha is also the faculty coordinator for the Finance and Economics Club. It is pretty evident that she takes pride in her work, and she makes a special mention of the “Tata NEN First Dot” Training Programme. She is passionate about entrepreneurship, and says, “I feel a strong need to re – think entrepreneurship today and also that there should be more vocational courses offered by private organisations to match the needs of young entrepreneurs.”

Megha loves Macro Economics – “Macro Economics’ connectivity with the economy and government policies as a whole, makes it an area that is lively and extremely important to understand.” She is working in the area of Micro Finance and has taken her location, Dakachya and surrounding villages, for her primary survey. She is also working on a paper on FDI in India that qualitatively explores the nature and type of FDI India has received till date. An enthusiastic teacher and learner, Megha believes that Jaipuria is the right place for her owing to its international standards and practices.
