Having completed her graduation from the Sri Satya College for Women, Bhopal, Apeksha Malviya was looking for an institute which would help her to further her career prospects and Jaipuria Indore seemed the obvious choice. Not only was this rated as one of the best Business Schools in the region, but it also offered a campus life that is rich and varied – one which promotes learning at every level. “I consider myself lucky to be able to experience hostel life. The dormitory is my home and the campus vibrates with life and a host of extra-curricular activities, many of which I excel in,” she says.
Studying at the Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore, however, is not all about academics – it’s much more. “Late night chatting sessions, sharing confidences with your friends – and of course studying!” says Malviya who admires all the faculty members at the Institute for their dedication and excellent teaching skills. However, she has a special word of praise for Dr Priti Bakhshi, Chair – Corporate Relations and Placements. “She has really helped me grow. Her patience and support in answering my queries – be they personal or professional – and her guidance has improved me as an individual,” she says.
Dr Priti Bakhshi in turn is happy with Malviya’s journey at the Jaipuria Indore campus and adds, “She is multi- talented and delivers her best in almost all areas whether it is in running a Campus Company “Bakers Best”, or participating in fashion shows, dance, dramas, writing MRC (Media Relationship Club) reports, doing live projects, event celebrations, Radio or Disc Jockeying or any academic activities.”
“Some of the most significant opportunities for growth take place outside the classroom – in the residence halls, through service projects, in clubs and other student programs and activities. And Jaipuria Indore provides all this and more. Every moment in Jaipuria Indore has been memorable and worth cherishing. It is so hard to choose the most memorable amongst them,” says Malviya adding that after a great deal of contemplation, it had to be her time at Pantaloons. “I interned with Pantaloons during Jaipuria Indore’s Winter Internship Program and their appreciation for my work meant a lot.” It gave me reason to celebrate my success and the confidence to fly high.”
Doing well at Jaipuria Indore requires students to be able to meet deadlines, to experience the practical as well as the theoretical. “The environment at the Jaipuria Indore is fast turning me into being a good manager, ready to face the corporate world. I have learnt the art of time management, communication, working under pressure while maintaining a work-life balance and staying calm and positive despite the odds,” says this young woman. The experience has also taught her to work amiably in teams – a quality that her batch-mate Parul Nayak says she vouches for. “Initially when I met Apeksha, I assumed she was someone with a haughty attitude but I was proved absolutely wrong once I started working with her. She is really a great support especially during difficult times and is someone you can rely on. Hard working, generous and understanding are adjectives that define her.”
Contributing to the holistic development of every student are all the extra-curricular activities that Jaipuria Indore provides. Malviya vouches for this when she says that her take-away will be the “fabulous campus life experience, the proactive qualities and the problem solving skills” that she has developed. Being content writer for the most prestigious club on campus – the Media Relationship Club has helped her as well. “Working as a campus journalist provided me with a platform to hone my writing skills while being the co-owner of “Bakers Best”- a campus company, along with my friend, Shaneel Patodi, – gave me a feel of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur. Through this we provide cakes, biscuits and namkeensin the college, whenever required.I also worked as a radio jockey in another campus company called “Saregama Jaipuria” where I was introduced to a whole new world,” she elaborates. She explains that this campus company is Jaipuria Indore’s radio platform, where a show happens every Sunday. All these experiences that helped her to develop her confidence levels have made Malviya the multifaceted personality she is today. A quality that Jaipuria Indore prides itself in imparting to its students.
Wanting to specialise in HR, this young lady sees herself as the future HR head of a corporate and with the Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore’s help, she feels confident of achieving her dream.
