Akanksha Srivastava, Jaipuria Noida PGDM Class of 2010-12, shares the story of her Jaipuria journey, her placement experience and some of the highlights of her work life at Deloitte.

I am a Tax Consultant with Deloitte and I work closely with teams and clients in India as well as the U.S. Normally, people would think that such a profile requires one to be analytical and very good with numbers. While this is true, it is only part of the story. It’s not only about numbers but also how to connect with your client and how to maintain a good relationship with the India and U.S. offices. Deloitte provides extensive training for the skills and knowledge we need to be a Tax Consultant. This training and the professional coaching I received during my PGDM years helps me overcome the daily challenges that I face at work.

It feels amazing to work with Deloitte. I had never imagined that I would stay with my campus placement for so long, but I did. This is because it’s the best platform I can get to start off my career. Also, I truly believe that an overall learning experience and industry exposure are a must early on in one’s career. If you are learning and growing during this initial phase, then stick with it as long as you can.

I am indebted to Jaipuria for where I am today. It is because of Jaipuria that I am currently working with such a big company and have such a great profile. The Institute helped a lot, especially during the placement time. We needed some special sessions on accounting and the faculty gave us extra sessions. Besides this, good communication skills are also important, which the Institute worked hard to develop in all of us.

I am in regular touch with faculty at Jaipuria and also the friends that my 2 years there gave me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and the only words of advice for my juniors would be that they should also enjoy this time to the maximum. I wish them all the very best.
