A summer internship to PPO at GE Healthcare, Aman from Jaipuria Noida encashed the opportunity on first go.

Management students try to make the most of their internship experiences because often it’s their first direct brush with a professional environment. In many ways, it’s a trial by fire, which offers them an opportunity to make it big right from the outset. And then there are some, like Aman Sharma, who make the opportunity count- like really count in every imaginable way. His internship with GE Healthcare won him a pre placement offer that’s one of the highest placement packages of the year 2019 at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida. The new Territory Sales Trainee with the global brand relives how it all happened!
It was in the classroom while attending a lecture on Analytics that Aman got the news of the PPO from his mentor. He had clearly impressed his employers during the internship and the placement offer with 9.3 LPA package was a glorious testimony to his performance. “I had worked very hard during my internship and I think it was my way of meeting customers confidently that got me noticed. I believe in doing things in the present right while looking at the future as the bigger picture,” he expresses his simple yet effective strategy.
Travelled extensively in north of India, during his internship, he learned a great deal about healthcare machines and by the end of the internship knew that it was the industry he wanted to work in. “I discovered my passion for it. In my role I will be responsible for Sales and Services of Healthcare machines. I believe my attitude and discipline will help me achieve my professional goals,” he says confidently.
Aman admits that when he first came to Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida he had no idea about placements and industry sectors he wanted to work in. As he pursued his specialization in Marketing and Operations he gained conceptual clarity as well as the confidence to make his mark in the field. “Interacting with industry experts during our program has helped me a lot with self-belief. he says as he now has the launch pad to scale heights of success.

Raveena Aggarwal an Engineer and PGDM preferred profile over package and she got both at Deloitte

It’s often a moment in our lives that changes its course forever. Interestingly, it’s not the moment but your response to it that makes the difference. When Raveena Aggarwal of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida was asked “Why Deloitte for you, and why you for Deloitte? ” during her final placement interview, she aced the interview with perfection and bagged the position of Associate Solution Advisory with the global consulting giant with an handsome package.
From day one Raveen knew what she wants. since. “I knew that Amazon comes with highest placement package, which used to be my goal. It was the profile offered by Deloitte more than the money that changed my mind. Being placed with the Big Four with the profile of my interest and a strong salary package is the best I could have asked for,” she speaks of her win-win.

Being an Engineer, “Why PGDM after B.Tech?” was another question Raveena expected to be asked during the interview. As her advice to all engineers turned MBA’s she asserts that you need to be creative with your answers because monotonous replies don’t cut it. “I think what worked for me was that I wasn’t fake with my answers while being confident throughout. In fact, my B.Tech with IT specialization will be strength in my new role as I will also be handling control assessments of different information technology layers,” she says looking ahead enthusiastically.
But on the cusp of new beginnings, it’s impossible for Raveena to not look back on the shy, introverted girl who struggled to express herself. Presentations, case studies, hands on experience, participation in various events, have all been her preparation for the corporate world. “I was associated with CSR Committee, which gave me tremendous exposure. I am going to miss all simple and special moments on campus. I think being able to speak confidently in front of people is my biggest achievement,” she says, although her placement ranks high up there too.

What after CAT 2019?

CAT is over, the brain is drained, the body is weak and ready to be SNAPped. But tell you what it has been an amazing experience, all those days and hours of work just went barging out and hopefully with a li’l bit of fate’s slight rumblings to assist we should all get where we ought to be. I reckon the draining element is purely due to the amount of anxiety that took over in the last stages and the way it was handled by the brain.
But you know what, I love the sleep and the food. Especially the fast kinds. I was off it, and I really felt good to be light in the belly all the time and the brain felt sharper but as we all need to keep ourselves abreast with what is around us, the few rounds of fast food that I had afterwards has made my body, my mind and my whole system happy and sprightly. It is amazing how much of those ads and the regular visuals of the roadside joints and the food updates on Instagram and Facebook stays within us. Never letting go of the senses and constantly reminding of how that food tastes and feels. I guess the mind has to be trained in a similar way to look at management graduates of yore in the same way, keep looking, keep reading, and keep assimilating what has been achieved before.
A few days of break then back to the groove. SNAP is coming up. And of course awaiting the results. So now to practice the art of articulation of what I know, what I am curious about, what I intend and what I aspire in the best way possible. B-Schools, here I come.
I think I will rejoice these moments with my family, friends and all of you out there. It is the day after. The jubilation of having done something well, after humongous amount of practice and help and suggestions, is just way too good. I will leave the remaining words, feelings, mental blow-out and all of that for you all to enjoy on your own instead of me bellowing out more sentences.
Wish you all God-speed and bright and cheerful days ahead…

For the 2nd consecutive year Jaipuria Institute of Management recognized with coveted Great Place to Work Certification

Jaipuria Institute of Management has bagged the prestigious Great Place to Work certification for the second year in a row. Great Place to Work Institute is a renowned global management research and consulting firm that strives to help companies reach their business goals while creating best work places. Hence the certification has assumed great significance amongst global Social Services Organizations, Small and Mid-Sized Organizations, and Start-Ups.
Jaipuria Institute of Management wins the certification as one of the Mid-Size Organizations that have fostered a great work place environment for its employees. It’s interesting to note that when the B School won the certification last year its employee size was 264 while it has gone up to 311 this year. As it retains its place in Education and Training category, it reflects on its consistent efforts to maintain best working standards for its growing employee size.
Great Place to Work Certification takes into account people practices in organizations. Employees are surveyed across 56 parameters and the organization gets certified only if more than 70% of the respondents rate it as a great work place. Credibility of management, respect for people, fairness at the work place, pride and camaraderie constitute the Trust Index. Organizations also need to score at least 2.5 on the 5 point scale for people practices.
This year’s Great Place to Work Certification happens to be the biggest so far with more than 10000 organizations associating with the research and consulting firm for assessment. They came from about 60 countries and across industries. Jaipuria Institute of Management, which has four campuses in Lucknow, Noida, Jaipur and Indore once again won the honors as the organization that is growing along with its employees.
Mr. Amit Attry, Vice President, Marketing & Corporate Relations of the B School says, “It’s about getting the simple things right. You don’t need a fancy work place to make employees feel at home and be a part of the family. You need a spirit of team work and positivity at the workplace to have your team at their best”. Jaipuria endeavored to do that through initiatives ranging from Faculty Development Programs to yoga, recreation sessions, fitness training and POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Training and other comprehensive measure in workplace culture and talent management practices. Its Great Place to Work Certification is a testament to those efforts.

Making it to Colgate Palmolive amongst 100 others applicants- Anushika shares her journey at Jaipuria

When the HR and the Area Sales Manager of Colgate Palmolive asked Anushika Agarwal in her final interview- “which is that one thing that brings stress to you, and how do you overcome that?’ it took her few seconds to come up with the answer. And now that she looks back- she does not wish to change a thing about that day of her selection. Everything for Anushika was going as planned! It was a stress interview and she was prepared. She was bombarded with questions from the panelists and she knew she had to keep her poise and calm. She was just few questions away from being selected by one of the popular FMCG brands of USA and 100+ students were eyeing for the role on offer. Anushika knew she had just one route-map to survive the competition- to be herself.
Anushika’s role as a CDO would be to manage the key accounts and making new once, also handling and managing the distribution channel of the location that would be given to her and she is excited! “Ever since 2017 when I joined the PGDM program at Jaipuria, I was trying to learn Management- nothing else, but that.” I received a Summer Internship with Fab Hotels and spent two months there to realize I wanted to specialize in Finance and Marketing.
“Fab Hotels SIP worked as an eye-opener for me. I was at the reception of Birla Cements’ Lucknow office with my colleague. It was 2pm and we were waiting to meet a higher official to talk of Fab Hotels and its initiatives when the Marketing Head walked in. After a course of an absolutely interesting conversation he said- organizations working in the domain of roti, kapda and makan would always look promising – no matter the time and the consequences,” narrates Anushika while elaborating on one of her biggest takeaways from the summer project’s stint. But what inspires this young and dynamic girl the most is- women’s success stories. “There is nothing more fulfilling than to see us breaking the stereotypes and standing out against all odds,” she says with a bold smile on her face.
As Anushika looks back, she recalls how far she has come within these two academic years. Unlike other students, she was not a member of any club at the B-school but she ensured active participation in events and competitions to stay ahead of the curve. And that’s how she met Sangeeta Chacko, Head- Corporate Communications at Percept Limited. “It was a really impressive presentation, and the most striking feature about it was the attitude and zeal with which she presented. It has so far been one of the presentations that I would never forget and I want to imbibe her kind of energy and spark within me ahead,” remarks Anushika is now getting all set to live the final days of her B-school life before leaving for Colgate Palmolive in few months.

Jaipuria’ Powerful ‘Be Infinite’ campaign is an ode to individuality and uniqueness

Jaipuria Institute of Management has teamed up with Seth M. R. Jaipuria Schools to launch a video series that celebrates the individuality of every student. Titled ‘Be Infinite’, the campaign inspires to break the shackles of society, peer pressure, and revel in the uniqueness of one’s true self. The video stresses that each one of us is special in our own way, and that presents us infinite opportunities to become who we want to be.
The world sets limitations and barriers around young minds. They are often judged for their uniqueness, just what actually makes them different. Parents, families and teachers want them to conform to their expectations. But at Jaipuria, it’s all about getting through those boundaries, breaking free of the pressures. Its model of learning encourages students to listen to their own voice, dig deep, and do exactly what they want to.
That’s where the spirit to ‘Be Infinite’ comes from. It’s something all Jaipuria students develop during the course of their programs. Hence it’s interesting to see some of those students as a part of this moving campaign. “It is all about breaking the stereotypes prevailing amongst us, whether they are related to education, profession, genders, sexual orientation, responsibilities,” says Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice Chairman, Jaipuria Institute of Management and Seth M. R. Jaipuria School.
We live in times where social media celebrities are born every single day. With the strong influence of Internet on impressionable minds, it’s easy to start aping others and forgetting your own inner voice in the process. The ‘Be Infinite’ campaign designd by Jaipuria Institute of Management in many ways is a call to that inner voice – to motivate students and the youth of the country to recognize and embrace their uniqueness. Only then can they explore endless possibilities and be truly infinite.

Expect the Unexpect at CAT 2019

There are a few things generally associated with the CAT exam. The toughest, most crucial and unpredictable. All those who are appearing in CAT 2019 should be well aware that the exam has always been covered with an element of surprise, unpredictability and uncertainty and aspirant should always be ready for it.
If there is one thing that aspirants can learn from previous CAT papers is to expect the unexpect. The CAT exam is known for not repeating previous years’ questions. It is wrong to expect that a particular question from a particular chapter will come in that particular form only rather it is designed in a fashion that multiple skills are tested from one question so it is a merger of two to three concepts. CAT can twist even the simplest of questions, leaving the candidates surprised and shocked. The idea driving the exam is to test how well the aspirants perform under pressure, hence the consistent twists and turns, sometimes, just before the exam, to unsettle the aspirants and make it more competitive.
It is safe to bet on the unpredictability of CAT. It is impossible to predict the structure and content of CAT, as the pattern keeps changing every year. Looking at previous year papers one can safely say that every year the exam is different and predictability is zero.
CAT can put off even the best of candidates with its surprises, which may vary from something like offering the help of an online calculator to setting the paper in the usual mode without any surprises. As an aspirant it is important to take all the surprises that CAT throws at them. Practise mock CAT offered by IIMs this will definitely hone you preparation further. Manage your time judiciously, you will not be allowed to revisit the section, despite time availability, once you submit the individual section, even if there is sufficient time.
It is not essential that CAT 2019 will be an exact version of this mock test but in past whenever IIMs have introduced changes they have usually introduced them through official mocks. We cannot rely on this completely but can take this as a warning sign and be ready for this kind of pattern as well.
Team Jaipuria wishes you all the best for CAT 2019!!!

“Engineers might have business ideas, MBA tells you where to start and work towards a successful venture,” says Jaipuria Institute of Managment, Indore’s Shivank Yadav

The past decade has seen a substantial rise in number of engineers opting for MBA programs. Student profile of the PGP program at IIM Ahmadabad reveals that more than 90% of them come from engineering background. The trend is often followed with a binary question – Why MBA and Why not? Is it a waste of engineering talent in the country? Shivank Yadav, engineer in Computer Science, who is pursuing his management program at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore stresses that the MBA is a huge value addition, cementing engineering graduates’ position in the corporate world.

Why MBA?

How many engineering students are actually interested in pursuing the career paths that are often chosen for them by others? Some finish their programs grudgingly, others are plain bored. Then there is the catch of not finding employment opportunities that do justice to their merits. “MBA becomes pivotal in opening up alternate career paths for engineers, who feel stuck in their careers. I believe an Engineer – MBA does exceptionally well in individual contributor role. So I certainly see it as a value addition rather than waste of talent,” says Shivank.

What’s the difference?

He speaks with a sense of authority, filled with confidence, as someone who knows what he is talking about. Unfortunately, it is a far cry from many young engineers in the country, who might be the best at their job but suffer with a serious absence of communication skills. According to Shivank, the difference lies in the MBA training, which focuses on soft skills too. “During engineering all the emphasis was on technical training. But MBA leads to your overall development and grooming of personality, which shapes thinkers and leaders,” he adds.

Diversity at Jaipuria

For Shivank, another advantage of pursuing your MBA at a B School like Jaipuria, Indore is that you get the opportunity to interact with students from different backgrounds. Their unique perspectives also help in broadening the horizons for engineers. “This is also my first hostel experience, which is exciting but also important for learning life skills. Life on campus,
especially after 7 pm, is great fun. You hang out with students from different backgrounds, play outdoor games, discuss ideas and grow tremendously in the process,” he says effusively.

Professional goals align with social responsibility

Shivank recently published in Esade – the MBA City Monitor and talks passionately about how MBA talent can help local governments solve problems of city dwellers. There is a strong understanding of social responsibility while being driven by his goal. “After my MBA I want to gain some experience and then start my own business venture. Engineers might have business ideas, but MBA teaches you where to start and how to turn your venture into a success. It is also a great place for valuable networking, which is a valuable asset for entrepreneurs,” he concludes spelling out his dreams.

Kuntal Nandy explains how MBA complements his musical journey

You will meet many MBA students who want to change the world through projects and programs that give back to the society. But very rarely you come across an aspirant who says that he wants to create a musical instrument that eliminates negative thoughts from people’s minds and fosters world peace. That’s Kuntal Nandy, student of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida for you. A percussionist who also plays the guitar, synthesizer and the mouth organ; music runs through his veins. In this chat he hits all the right notes and spreads the joy of music. Listen in:

Nurture or Nature?

That remains the debate, especially for creative geniuses. Are people born with the talents they possess? For Kuntal, who grew up in an art and music oriented family, talent and training is inseparable. He himself started singing at the age of 4 and weighs in on the discussion. “If you don’t have a good voice, even if you train hard, it cannot be corrected. I was blessed to be born with a good voice. But if you don’t nurture the talent, it will go to waste. So I think talent and training are equally important in the pursuit of any creative accomplishments,” he says.

The importance of discipline

Kuntal learned to play Harmonium from his aunt and tabla with his father. He went on to pursue a four year degree in tabla from Sangeet Bharati Music Academy. It was here that his guru imbibed the philosophy that there are no short cuts, only hard work. “Music also has the capability of taking away everything it has given to you. You must be focused, respectful and dedicated to preserve the talent. I believe discipline and art go hand in hand and you must respect whatever you learn from music to flourish further in the field,” he adds passionately.

Musical notes of an MBA

An MBA aspirant by day, music aficionado all lifelong – that’s Kuntal. He dreamily says that he cannot imagine himself without playing the guitar, without music in his life. Thankfully his stint at Jaipuria, Noida is offering him some opportunities that complement his passion. “I think the main objective of our B School is overall development. You get plenty of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities. I am also a part of the cultural committee and have organized events. So these activities give me the confidence to perform on stage,” he says.

Corporate career is music to his ears

Having been brought up in Jharkhand, Kuntal feels he has come a long way at Jaipuria, Noida where he rubs shoulders with students from all over the country. Learning about new accents, languages, cultures has been an enriching experience, which he believes will help him in his career. “The diversity on campus has enhanced my perspectives and given me the confidence. I feel it will make me a better professional. I want to keep learning and get a job where I can prove myself. But music will always remain a part of my life,” he concludes looking ahead.

First TEDx event at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida becomes a resounding success

Jaipuria, Noida campus was abuzz on 25 th September as the B School hosted its first TEDx event that brought leading personalities from different walks of life to the stage. Organized by the International Relations Committee (IRC), the event became a melting pot of ideas, beliefs, philosophies and a potent dose of inspiration for the audience as leaders, thinkers and motivational speakers shared their views and experiences with them.

Ms. Sheena Chohan, Actress and Human Rights Ambassador (UN), Dr. Malini Subramaniam, Director, Forensic Sciences Laboratory; Mr. Inspiring Ilango, Author, Brand Ambassador, Namakkal Transport Carriers, Mr. MVN Rao, SVP and Global Head – HR, L&T, Mr. Prashant Ingole, Bollywood Filmmaker, Lyricist and Writer, Mr. Taran Singh Bedi, Director, Tiemac Snack Food Pvt. Ltd, Ms. Puja Tiwari, Positive Political Activist, and Mr. Swapnil Tiwari, Sociopreneur, Ambassador UNESCO Peace Awardee 2018 were the marquee names on stage.

Dr. D.N Pandey, Director and Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice Chairman, Jaipuria Group of Institutes welcomed the guests and the audience warmly. “Whatever happens in arts, science, politics or environment enables a new movement and cross relates to something we do. Nothing is outside the realms and boundaries of our abilities,” said Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings.

Ms. Sheena Chohan then set the ball rolling with her moving talk on Power of Art. She discussed
the ill effects of digital content available to the youth today. She made her point about looking at art forms responsibly because she believes that art holds the future of humankind. Moving from arts to forensic science was an unexpected twist, just like in the TV shows that revolve around them. And Dr. Malini Subramaniam often called Dr. Narco, made sure the talk was extremely engaging.

She has over three decades of experience as a distinguished academic, clinical and forensic expert. She took the audience into the fascinating world of polygraph, narco-analysis, brain mapping and asserted, “Forensic science minimizes the time of investigation and also respects the constitutional right.” From the somber world of forensics to spritely, effervescent Mr. Inspiring Ilango was another interesting turn in the day’s packed schedule.

Born completely blind and bullied in his childhood, Mr. Ilango converted the troubles into motivation, which was the turning point in his life. “It is forgivable if one is blind, but it is completely unpardonable if one is without vision,” he said to a huge round of applause from the audience. Mr. MVN Rao shared the story of his own inspiration, which lies in his daughters. He thus made a strong case for personal relationships in the times of social media and limited attention spans.

“A person learns more from his or her failures. Success in life is determined by the relationships a person maintains and not the millions one invests in acquaintances,” was the lasting thought he left with the audience. Mr. Prashant Ingole took the idea further by stressing on people’s obsession with wealth rather than reflecting on one’s thoughts. Mr. Taran Singh Bedi highlighted
the importance of minimalism through the example of Japan.

Ms. Puja Tiwari captivated the audience instantly as she opened her talk with, “If you cannot find your purpose, find your passion, it will lead you to your purpose.” Passion was definitely the topic of her talk and it was brimming through her words. Mr. Swapnil Tiwari, a change maker and Padma Shri awards nominee for 2020, lives by the motto, “You are the hero you seek.” He
urged the audience to be change makers themselves, which ended the series of talks on a powerful and inspiring note.
