For Jahnvi Singh, the placement months at Jaipuria had been very challenging, but with the support of her faculty and peers at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida she had emerged stronger. Jahnvi recalls how her mentors at Jaipuria Institute of Management where always there for her right through the interviewing process for Gati KWE.

“GatiKintetsu Express Private Limited, better known as Gati KWE, is one of the dream companies – along with the likes of Tata-McGraw Hill, Bose Corporation and Apeejay Group – that recruited this year at Jaipuria Institute of Management. Gati KWE had an elaborate 3-stage recruitment process. The first stage was a GD on the topic ‘India is not safe for women’. It was a good discussion. Although I did not initiate the discussion, I spoke about what mattered the most. In a GD,you need not set the ball rolling every time, but you do need to make your presence matter.”

The second stage of the Gati KWE interviewing process was a case study presentation. Jahnvi had been given a four-page case on inventory management to read and analyse for 15 minutes, after which she was to present the case study. At the end of her presentation, she had been asked just two quick questions by the recruiters and then dismissed with a short “ok thanks”.
“I was not sure whether this was good or bad. When the results came out, I had cleared the round. Apparently I was not quizzed because the recruiters realised that I knew what I was speaking about.”

The final round was a ‘stress interview’ conducted by the senior management at the Gati KWE office.

“I had barely stepped into the room when the members of the interviewing panel startedbombarding me with questions and observations like “Being a girl, why do you want to be in sales?”, “We don’t think you willbe able to do the job!”, “You like working in isolation”, “You are not a team player”. Months of Personality Development classes at Jaipuria Institute of Management had prepared me for such a scenario. Isimply kept mum, till the questions subsided. I then told them that since it would not be possible for me to answer all the questions at the same time, the questions could be asked again one by one. The panelists burst out laughing.By the end of the interview, the panelists were offering me tea and biscuits!”

Out of the sea of applicants, aspirants and dream-seekers from numerous management colleges across the country, Jahnvi Singh was the chosen to join the dream company for many, GatiKintetsu Express Private Limited.

“My peers at Jaipuria Institute of Management have been my greatest support. They were the pillars when I felt I would not be able to stand by myself. I owe them a lot for their criticism; I am better off for it.We’ve been given the opportunity to join the best companies at Jaipuria Institute of Management. Surprisingly, we saw no indications of the economic slowdown everyone is speaking of.”

Jahnvi Singh will shortly be joining GatiKintetsu Express Pvt. Ltd. in the capacity of Management Trainee. After a year of training, she will take on the responsibilities of Assistant Manager – Sales. As of now, Jahnvi is busy enjoying her last few days at Jaipuria Institute of Management.
