Geetika Goyal has set her sights on being an entrepreneur and her approach is smart and strategic. Not only is she training herself at one of the best management colleges in the country – Jaipuria – but she is also planning to work in the finance department of an MNC to garner the required experience before she walks out on her own in the world of business. She explains, “Even though a management college like Jaipuria does integrate a lot of management qualities in us, working in an organisation is an altogether different experience. I want to gain some management experience in a multinational company before I begin my own work”.
Born and brought up in the city of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, Geetika feels privileged to have stayed in a boarding school up to the tenth grade. Thereafter, she took admission in D.P.S Vasant Kunj, Delhi, where she completed her school education. She did her Bachelor of Engineering after that and bagged a campus placement with Wipro. She worked with them for a year, during which she decided to pursue an MBA. “My work at a multinational company made me realise the importance of a management degree and that’s when I joined Jaipuria Institute of Management”. She credits the world class infrastructure, faculty profile and academic culture with her decision to join Jaipuria.
Geetika is an active girl and interested in badminton, swimming, reading novels, going to the gym and dancing. She is a fitness enthusiast and the facilities at Jaipuria – like the gymnasium and sports clubs – impressed her. She is also an active participant in college activities, her favourite being the role of campus journalist with MRC, the Jaipuria media club. “I enjoy being a part of MRC the most because it gives me the authority to personally interview all those speakers and entrepreneurs who come to our college for presentations and guest lectures.” She completely enjoys covering the events on the campus and reporting them. She is also the coordinator of E-cell, the entrepreneurship club.
Hands-on teaching and innovative teaching methods are the two things that have worked very well for Geetika in Jaipuria. “I have received my education from a lot of institutes in different parts of the country, but the faculty at Jaipuria Institute of Management is incomparable. The teachers use aids like white boards, projectors, videos, power point presentations, role plays, etc., to help each student understand the concepts being discussed.” She also thinks that the faculty at Jaipuria is easily accessible and that makes education not only fun, but also easy for her. She has built several skills, including public speaking, at the institute and is confident that going forward, she will be able to get a placement as per her caliber.
