Nishchay Jamwale is both a student and a teacher at Jaipuria Indore. And before you imagine an earnest young face standing at the head of the class, think again… his teaching consists of a lot more movement!
A native of Maharashtra, Nishchay was born and brought up in Hyderabad. While pursuing his graduation, dance remained his true passion. For the past five years, he has been teaching various forms of Indian and International Dance styles at ‘Twist N Turns Fitness and Dance Studios’ in Hyderabad; in fact, he is one of the founder members of the studio. His gurudakshina to Jaipuria Indore is in the form of Dance workshops for the students as well as the faculty members on campus.
“I dream of the day when I will be a part of a prominent corporate house in a metropolitan city in a managerial position, travelling the world to strike deals during day – and learn the local forms of dance in the evening!”
It certainly sounds like an interesting dream, one that Nishchay began working on even before joining Jaipuria Indore.
“Verbal skills have always been my area of interest. I was involved with the Marketing and HR functions for ‘Twist N Turns’. Even at Genpact, where I worked for 3 years, talking for maximum impact was a full-time job. This is why I decided to specialise in Marketing at Jaipuria Indore. It would help me learn better about marketing concepts so that I could apply them at work. Since I’ve already done some marketing, things are easier to understand and relate to in the classroom at Jaipuria Indore.
Just back from his Summer Internship with East Fx Media and Communications India Pvt. Ltd. at Hyderabad, Nishchay was able to put all the theory of the past one year at Jaipuria Indore into practice.
“I used to think that the corporate world is not as tough as it looks, and all it takes is a little bit of hard work. But this SIP taught me that making it big in the corporate world needs a lot more dedication, zeal, focus, domain knowledge and – most importantly – getting the basics right, than I had ever anticipated.”
Nishchay was involved with a lot of Branding, Marketing and Sales-Pitches for East Fx. In fact, seeing his flair for creativity and musical action he was included in a project to design Live TV shows for ETV TELUGU. On the other hand, he was involved in something as divergent as creating a corporate business presentation for Pragnya Builders, for an upcoming integrated township in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh.
“The most memorable part was being designated a ‘Media Consultant’ by East Fx while I was still just a summer intern. It made me feel that my efforts were being appreciated. My greatest involvement was with an event called the ‘Corporate Bowling League’, which was a tournament designed for the corporates of Hyderabad. For the promotion of the CBL, I had approached nearly 120 corporates for participation and sponsorship. I was also successful in finalising the sponsorship from Harley Davidson for the event.”
Nishchay feels that his SIP wouldn’t have been as successful, had it not been for his faculty mentor from Jaipuria Indore, Professor Romi Sainy.
“Professor Sainy was available at odd hours to answer any query, and always extended her support during my SIP. This is how it has been at Jaipuria Indore throughout. During the first year, everything was new – new campus, new place, new field of study, and a completely new digital education philosophy. But with time we realised how well structured the entire system at Jaipuria Indore is. With the help of the faculty members and their unique teaching methodologies, I find myself far more confident and goal-oriented today.”
Nishchay has been a part of numerous extra-curricular activities at Jaipuria Indore. As a part of the Hospitality team, he has helped organise the National Business Olympiad in association with IIM A, and Encore 2. He was also a part of the 6-member CSR team that raised funds for a child’s operation under My FM’s ‘Ek Rupiya Abhiyan’. Nishchay has contributed and organized several cultural events on campus like “Jaipuria’s Got Talent” and “Milan” which is an annual meet held across all four Jaipuria campuses.
“It is a wonderful experience being a part of the only campus of the Jaipuria Institute of Management group which is 100% residential, with lush green surroundings and modern facilities. We have 24/7 Internet facilities with a mini library in the hostel. What more could an aspiring MBA ask for? Every evening is different here; with Yoga on some days and Dance on others. It’s really a pleasure being a part of Jaipuria Indore.”
