On November 15th and 16th, 2013, a two-day workshop concerning “Data Analysis Using SPSS” was held at the Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. Featuring a wide range of participants from multiple industries and coordinated by Dr. Sumi Khare, faculty member of Decision Sciences, the workshop proved to be a remarkable success for both attendees and lecturers.
Given the particular relevance of analysing and interpreting data in our day-to-day world, SPSS software provides the tools by which these important functions can be performed. While this idea may be common to some within certain industries, the goal of the workshop was to highlight SPSS to those who may have been unfamiliar with the concepts and tools available to them when it comes to data analysis.
In this endeavour to teach the abilities of SPSS, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow got together a collection of both academicians and industry professionals to instruct the attendees on the many facets of SPSS. These professionals represented both government and private industries. Taking a generalist approach to the material, these individuals then offered their far-ranging expertise to those who attended the workshop. With the goal of helping the attendees to understand this IBM procured analytics software- SPSS, the lecturers adopted a case-study approach.

Ms. Sharda Singh, with the NGO Sparc India, had things to share while describing the workshop: “The biggest take-away from the workshop was the total package and content, from start to end. All the themes covered were important for step-by-step learning. The participation of all the candidates from different fields made this workshop unique. It was a good combination of academicians from various practices and development sector professionals.”
Dr. Preeti Mishra, from the Department of Management, BBD University, added: “The workshop was excellent. The lectures were well-delivered and interesting. It is difficult to summarise in words what the workshop meant. It gave valuable inputs to all of us as participants on the working and usage of SPSS.”
By gathering together such a multitude of talented people from numerous industries, Jaipuria Lucknow offered the attendees a well-rounded compilation of information about SPSS. This knowledge is something that the attendees will find handy in their daily activities. It is for this reason that the Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow was pleased to be able to hold such an event regarding such a relevant topic.
