MBA 2022: Amazing Tips to Select the Best MBA Colleges in India

Essential Parameters to Consider while choosing Best MBA college in India

This article will guide you in choosing the best MBA colleges in India for the year 2022 and will explain the most important parameters to consider while picking a B-school. Every year, the Ministry of Education releases the prestigious NIRF ranking of top MBA colleges in India. The ranking helps the MBA aspirants in knowing the ranks of top B-schools. However, there are various parameters you should consider while choosing a B-school.

With many top MBA colleges in India are still accepting applications, it is high time for you to make up your mind and apply for MBA at the ones which will benefit you the most.

Have you ever wondered, what makes a B-school good and how can it benefit you the most? What if you know the rankings but aren’t sure of what makes a B-school a better choice and if you are tired of searching the web for these parameters which make a B-school unique, then this article is for you.

The most important parameters to check in an MBA college in India before applying are:

The ranking

Of course, ranking is one of the most crucial prerequisites before choosing a B-school. It is believed that there is no perfect ranking system so far but the NIRF rankings are believed to be the most authentic and sought-after rankings in India. So, to begin with, check the ranking of the college.

Recognitions and Accreditations

Most MBA aspirants don’t know much about these but these are equally important. Check for NAAC and NBA accreditations. The management programmes should be AICTE approved and in the case of PGDM programmes, it should be AIU recognized to make the PGDM programme MBA equivalent.

The Programmes Offered

Well, one MBA college can be the best college for Finance but not necessarily for Marketing. Hence, know the domain of your interest, then find out which colleges are best in that domain. Some of the most popular domains are Finance, Marketing, Service Management, etc.

The Placement Record:

Another important parameter that reflects a college’s reputation in the industry. The placements record tells quite a lot about a college. Don’t just fall for the highest package, also check which recruiters came, the average package, and how many students got placed in the previous batch. The most important thing to consider while checking the placements of a college is to know the placement in the domain of your interest. For instance, if you wish to do MBA in Marketing Management, then your focus should be on which recruiters came for your stream, the number of students placed, the highest package, and the average salary.

Essential parameters to consider while choosing an MBA college
The programme Fee, Scholarship Opportunities:

Yes, it is important as it is related to the burden on your or your parents’ pockets. Check the programme fee for both the years and find out about the scholarships offered by that B-school. You may be surprised to see that you saved yourself some money.

Take advantage of social media:

Today, social media is way more than just a communication and entertainment platform. It is like a hub where you can find out quite a lot about a B-school. To be specific, visit the social media accounts of the top MBA Colleges in India and explore what is happening there. If a college does frequent guest sessions by industry experts and other extra-curricular activities then it shows that the college is a good choice as it imparts education in many ways. Follow its social media pages and keep exploring.

The Curriculum, Faculty, and Student Diversity

Last but not least is the curriculum. Find out what is taught. Find out about the faculty’s expertise and experience. And check the student diversity. If the curriculum is updated as per the current industry scenario, the faculty is experienced and well qualified, and the college has students from different regions or states of India then it is indeed a good option for you.

These 7 parameters are the most important ones an MBA aspirant should check in the B-school he or she is applying for. If a college meets your expectation in all seven parameters, then hopefully it is a good choice for you in terms of learning experience, grooming, programme benefits, placements, and ROI.

If you are also amongst the MBA 2022 aspirants and have devoted hours of practice for management entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, etc, then this is the time to taste the fruits of success. It is time to get into the management institute of your choice, and the one which benefits you the most in all regards. Having said that, with so many alternatives, it becomes quite difficult for MBA aspirants to choose from the available colleges. Making a choice becomes even harder, especially when you get a call from more than one college you dreamt of.

Here, we will guide you on how to choose an MBA college that is the best choice for you.

The choices we make today will shape the tomorrow

Yes, that’s the obvious truth. With over 5000 management colleges in India, most MBA aspirants focus on the top 100. This makes the competition quite high.

Remember, the choices we make define our future, hence, it becomes imperative to make the right decisions, at the right time. For instance, If you have got a good percentile in CAT, but you missed the chance to apply at the top colleges, all your efforts, hard work, and the scorecard will go in vain.

Shortlist MBA Colleges

Make a list of the best MBA colleges based on your area of interest, ranking, MBA program fees, placements, and other essential factors. In this blog, we will guide you on how to choose the best MBA colleges based on specializations, rankings, fees, and other factors.

Tip: Start Applying

Start applying at those MBA colleges. Filling in the application form is the first step of the admissions process. You need to keep a note of important dates. An important tip is to keep on regularly checking the notifications on the website of the colleges shortlisted by you in order to ensure that you don’t miss a chance. Take the application process seriously and pay utmost attention to every detail related to it.

The Question of Millenia:

The biggest question is how to choose the college which is best for you?, Which colleges should you apply to?, and what parameters are essential for you to know before taking admission in MBA to any management college?

Here is the answer to these questions in the simplest form:

  1. Rankings and Accreditations: Always check the college’s ranking before applying. The most authentic ranking so far is the prestigious NIRF ranking. Accreditations give authenticity to the college. Check for AIU recognition, NBA and NAAC rankings, and AICTE accreditation.
  2. Placements: The most important aspect, checking the placements of that college. See the median salary, highest salary, recruiter details, etc.
  3. Program Fee: It is the third most important factor as it tells how much burden will it put on your/your parents’ pockets.
  4. Specializations offered: If you are confident about the domain you would like to go to, then you need to be extra careful while picking colleges. You should choose the ones which are doing great in the domain of your interest. For example, if you want to do an MBA or PGDM in Marketing, then you should research the best MBA colleges for marketing. Going to the best MBA college for Finance may not give you the desired fruits.
  5. Location: This is another important factor. You may either pick a good MBA college nearby to your hometown, or you may choose the one surrounded by the corporate hub. Making a choice here is your call but should be done wisely.
  6. Exams Accepted & their Cut Off: Check your eligibility first. If you are eligible to apply, understand the complete admissions process of the colleges shortlisted by you. Carefully go through the step-by-step admissions process.
  7. Extracurricular activities & Guest Sessions: Explore the social media pages of the colleges shortlisted, check what kind of activities are going on in that college. This factor is important as it provides overall grooming to the management students.
  8. Infrastructure & Facilities: It helps in the learning process.

Why Are Fresh MBA Graduates Struggling To Find A Well-Paying Job?

Young professionals and college students often wonder if attending a top business school will set them up for an ever-growing career graph. Undeniably, an MBA degree is one of the road maps to C-suite jobs at large Multi-National Corporations, and also a stepping stone for budding entrepreneurs. But while many eminent industry leaders hold an MBA, the degree isn’t a permit to fortune. Outdoing in business requires creativity, dedication, initiative, and immense efforts. And of course, a great B-school is cherry on the icing!
Developing leaders and forming potential entrepreneurs is what business schools aim to contribute to the society. This is undertaken by exposing students too all the areas of business including finance, marketing, accounting, and human resource.
How will an MBA benefit your career?
Agree or not, a lot of students compare success with their pay packages. However, an MBA is meant to shape you with new skills and open up better avenues for the future. Furthermore, people whose professions unfold with time in different organizations often enroll into business schools for facilitating transitions and widening their opportunities.
Jaipuria Institute of Management’s (Lucknow | Noida | Indore | Jaipur) PGDM curriculum is designed to provide organizations with candidates of the desired managerial skills needed to run them. The Institute aims to help students build the skills needed to excel as professionals, such as the ability to develop smart solutions, analyzing large amounts of data, inspiring and motivating other team members, and commanding respect, a skill that is necessary for individuals who wish to manage ambitious projects that involve teamwork. Besides, the career management team at the Institute liaises with the students to sign them up for personality development workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and networking as a whole.
Are students prepared to work effectively on a global scale?
Proper guidance is crucial for any work, and same is the case for preparing students to work with and for global teams. While large numbers of B-schools traditionally train students to work with onsite teams and manage in-house corporate teams, but with changing times and increasing trend of virtual teams, Jaipuria Institute of Management – Lucknow | Noida | Indore | Jaipur has figured the necessity of preparing students for managing teams on a global scale. Jaipuria’s PGDM program focuses on the following main objectives:
1. A basic understanding of the common issues that teams across borders face, and how to tackle them
2. The technical and managerial skills required to generate high-performance in conjunction with teams, virtually
3. Knowledge of processes, tools, and strategies required to generate high-performance
What employers expect from MBA graduate – and what they don’t?
Every third employer struggles to find business school graduates with the right set of skills. Few of the most important skills that they’re often on a look out for are surprisingly not core MBA subjects, like Marketing or Finance, but more roughly defined qualities, or commonly termed as “soft-skills,” such as the ability to collaboratively work with a team, and having the understanding of prioritizing tasks at workplace.
While B-schools largely emphasize on the importance of core curriculum and specializations, Jaipuria Institute’s PGDM program is designed to nurture the soft skills needed by top-ranking companies – leadership, global awareness, and empathy – along with the nuts and bolts of business.
How is Jaipuria Institute of Management preparing Students for the Global Workforce?
Jaipuria Institute of Management Institute – Lucknow | Noida | Indore | Jaipur offers an opportunity to participate in International Summer Internship Programs established in association with top industry players such as KPMG, IBM, and Bombay Stock Exchange to name a few. Former students who had a chance to work in Singapore and Dubai markets reported that they discovered new perspectives about themselves by working in the socially mix environment.
Jaipuria Institute of Management is focused on providing such opportunities to enable students navigate the professional world, communicate efficiently through diverse cultures, and leverage talents. Besides, through education, seminars, workshops, online resources, and mentoring, students are trained to develop a global mindset.
Is it worth it: Takeaway!
While it is true that the markets are changing beyond recognition, but pursuing MBA from the right B-school will give you an opportunity to experiment with your outlook, and develop interpersonal, management, and problem-solving skills – all ageless abilities.
An MBA doesn’t guarantee success, nothing can – but in the right Institute, under right guidance, and with the right attitude, the same degree may play a crucial role in providing the enhancements in life you’re searching for.

Jaipuria alumnus Mr. Divya Mehra, VP, Service (IG), Controls & Audits, Religare stresses on the importance of practical learning for today’s managers

“My journey with Jaipuria Institute of Management has been great because of all the amazing things I have learned there. Both the theoretical and practical learning that I got from the institute has led me to the place in my career where I am today.” These are the words of Mr. Divya Mehra of the 2003 batch, and the place he is talking about is that of Vice-President, Customer Service (IG), Controls & Audits, Religare. We talked to him about his academic years, the role of the institute in his grooming as a professional and the challenges he faces in his work sphere.

As the VP of a top brand, Mr. Mehra is in a position of huge responsibility; this is a challenge in itself, but it’s something he thrives on. The Marketing and Finance major from the institute today handles controls, audits and inspections at Religare. Talking about his work tasks, he says, “One big challenge is stress because it’s everywhere. It could be because you have to interact with people that you might not gel with, or deal with deadlines. It’s not the stress but how you choose to deal with it that proves your mettle.”

Mr. Mehra is candid in his admission that it was his education at his B school that prepared him for the road ahead in his career. He re-iterates the fact that he has been able to implement whatever he learned at the institute in his professional life. This is something he feels has given him the opportunity to go far in life: “One big take away from my time at the institute was that whatever situation you are faced with, you cannot shy away from it. If you are willing to face it head on, there’s every chance that you will be able to sail through it,” he says practically.

Of course, Mr. Mehra’s experience and overall personality was also moulded by cultural activities that his institute promoted. He talks about the importance of such initiatives, saying, “Besides the curriculum and classroom learning, I benefited from being a part of the cultural activities. I was the culture secretary and started a cultural committee that hosted several events; I also was able to meet new people from various colleges. It has given me so many beautiful memories, in addition to an experience of a lifetime.”

After going through the B School and management degree route himself, does Mr. Mehra think it’s a requisite for those who want to make it in the corporate world? He has seen the industry closely today and is that something employers look from new candidates? “While it’s not a necessity it can certainly take you to the next level,” he says. “I count myself lucky to have done my PGDM from a renowned institute that created an ideal launch pad for me.”

Shailendra says, “Jaipuria has enabled me to understand the gap between academics and industry.”

“The reality of working life is very different from the knowledge learned from books only”, exclaims Shailendra Mohan Dixit talking about his Summer Internship Project with Mott McDonald. He says the Summer Internship Programme (SIP) of Jaipuria Institute of Management has helped him understand this gap between academics and industry, and has also shown him the ways to bridge this gap.

Shailendra hails from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. He loves interacting with people and travelling, which is the reason that led him to an interest in Jaipuria for higher education and marketing as a career. He has joined Mott MacDonald as a Market Researcher and his job is to collect feedback from various areas of Mumbai. “I have to collect 400 responses and then analyse the feedback with the help of various analytical tools and give my recommendations and suggestions about the project”, he says.

The SIP interview was an experience in itself, Shailendra shares: “I believe I bagged this opportunity based on my past experience in marketing with Relcon Infra Ltd. and RED FM.” This SIP is exciting for Shailendra, more because he will be earning a stipend as well: “I am going to save this stipend ‒ after all it’s my first salary as a management major!” However, he understands that SIP is a serious assignment. He is glad for the mentoring that he is receiving from Prof. Pooja Singh Kushwaha, and he is leveraging this opportunity as best as he can. He wants to build his competencies in the marketing domain and increase his employability quotient. He is putting his best foot forward and working hard during this SIP. “I wish to understand what makes an aspirant employable”, he tells us. “And, I hope that I receive a pre-placement offer from Mott MacDonald”.

Jaipuria Internship

“This is my chance to practice all I have learned”, shares Geeta Bhardwaj, PGDM’15, Jaipuria Institute of Management, currently interning with Hitachi

Geeta Bhradwaj, PGDM, Class of 2015 of Jaipuria Institute of Management is supremely elated these days. Of course she has her reasons! Having been picked by one of the Japanese multinational engineering and electronics conglomerates for her summer internship programme, Geeta has more reasons than one to be this exhilarated. She is looking forward to her first stipend from her internship assignment as a trainee with Hitachi. Her excitement is understandable – she prepared very hard for the interview process and gave her all during each stage: “I was sure my first question would be about sales and I was prepared. I think my focus and passion convinced the interviewer of my skills and abilities.”

Originally, Geeta spent time in Delhi where she completed her BBA. She always aspired to pursue a career in management and joined the MBA course soon after her graduation. Geeta feels that Jaipuria has trained and equipped her with the skills that helped her bag the internship. Now, she wants to make the best of this opportunity: “I eventually want to build my career in the retail sector. This internship is offering me the chance to learn the skills that are required in that field. My job here is to connect with the walk-in customer in the Hitachi retail outlet, educate them about our products and eventually convert that into a sale. Hitachi is just the place for me to learn all I need”.

Geeta is a person who carefully plans her priorities and values all the help and education she can get. She is following the college mentoring initiative as directed, and firmly believes in its benefits: “Associate Professor, Dr. Susobhan Goswami is my mentor and he has helped me make important decisions. He is a master of marketing and business strategy and we meet once a week. During these meetings, I have learned more about myself, and I have also received tips to deal with my weaknesses. Recently, I also sought his help to choose my course electives. He has helped me work on my presentation skills and my subject knowledge. In the future, I want his opinion and guidance for final placement and career plans. He has been a true mentor to me.”

The hands-on experience of SIP enables students to learn the skills that can help them fit into the working world without hiccups. Geeta wishes to add on some key skills that include networking, since she believes it will add to her art of selling. The other things on the top of her mind are: subject knowledge in her area of interest, customer mapping, organizational work culture, and concepts of marketing, which she has studied but will now get a chance to practice. Geeta is not leaving any stone unturned to enhance her knowledge base during her SIP, and she is convinced that she can and will definitely leverage this opportunity.
