Jaipuria Institute Of Management’s Udaan – A Flight Into Undiscovered Horizons

Students from across the nation are gearing up for the event of the year: Jaipuria Institute of Management’s fabulous Udaan. On 25 and 26 November. From morning until evening, cash prizes wait to be won.

The plans are made and the preparations are in full swing for this is Jaipuria Institute of Management’s biggest event of the year. These two days is a time when management techniques and leadership skills are called upon. Stress? Sure. But adrenaline highs are ensured.

No need to register in advance. On-the-spot registrations are in the scheme of things. Any number of teams from any number of colleges can participate. No restrictions. Each team will pay a reasonable participation fee and be ready to move it, groove it, and win it.

A glimpse of what will be the scene on Day 1 of Udaan 2011:

Jigsawmania: like the name suggests this is going to be a Managerial jigsaw with a difference. Off the beaten jigsaw track. In Round 1 participating teams of two members, each will be given a jigsaw. But with a twist. Some of the pieces will be mixed up with ones belonging to other teams. The teams that win this round will qualify for the next one: a buzzer quiz round. Winners will win exciting cash prizes.

Genesis: is all about ideas that can change lives. So let the innovative thinker in your surface. Take charge of it and make it happen. Because the Next BIG idea can take home the first grand prize of Rs. 30,000! It comes from a sponsor – IIM Bangalore.

Singing can be beautiful for the ears. Symphony lets competitors show off the melodies in their voices.

Can any Management event be complete without showcasing brands?? Never, never, never. Blitzkrieg is Udaan’s brand show.

Some love to be heard and not seen. They like making waves in the air and playing other people’s songs. It is an art form that needs perfecting the gift of the gab. So gabbing their way to success can be a change in the career course. Radio Mania is just the competition for aspiring RJs. Let the beat groove you on.

Debates get passionate, they get angry arguments to defy all reason. And the winner truly deserves the prize. It is a battle of wits and words at Crossword.

Painting, anybody? This one’s easy because it is on T-shirts and is called Poor Picasso. Have fun, let the paint out of the tube, use your brushes, fingers, cotton buds, make the imperfect picture if you like – Picasso style.

Events on Day 2 of Udan 2011 have:

Cataclysm: may the best gamer win. Cataclysm is all about gaming the management way. It’s on the computer and is absolutely charged with the speed of lightning.

Pan Galactic is a CSR initiative and is a short film-making contest.

Kolam: India is a land where colors are used everywhere. Including artistic designs on the floor. Whether it is with a stark white powdered rice used traditionally in the south and called Kolam or made using the colors of the rainbow and called Rangoli.

Yes, there’s lots of fun lined up and lots of intellectual stimulation too. Be there. Do that. May the fastest and the best team win.

Their busy work schedules are rewarding, no doubt. But meeting up with batch mates and friends on a campus where they shared precious moments is special. It is a feeling that cannot be exchanged for anything.
The large scale celebrations at Jaipuria Institute of Management’s Punarsangam are planned with deep attention to detail and a lot of caring concentration.
Starting off with the registration between 5 – 6 pm, Punarsangam will flow into interactions. At 7.30 pm the cultural event will begin.

Punarsangam does not end with the scrumptious dinner. Jaipuria Institute Of Management, Noida, Says No To Plastic!

Headed by Faculty coordinator Poonam Sharma, Jaipuria is launching its campaign to ban the baddie – plastic – from planet earth. “We want our children to inherit a better earth, a pollution free environment so they remain aware and stay healthy,” she says. “Plastic has invaded our lives. We have begun using it everywhere, indiscriminately. Plastic is the main culprit for global warming. It has endangered life itself.”
Jaipuria Noida’s message is very simple. “Say NO to the use of plastic bags.” It drives home the fact effectively. Plastic choking the very life out of our planet.
Combating this, Jaipuria is taking small steps towards the greater environment cleaning goal. “The plastic habit is so deeply engraved in our psyche,” says Abhishek Pramanik, “that we have to do something really drastic to drive the message home.”
The students of Jaipuria are starting off the No Plastic drive by holding a bag making competition. Bags are the crux of the whole plastic bag invasion because of their convenience. Rarely do people remember to carry bags for their shopping from home. Result? More earth choking plastic. “Today shops charge for the bags, but people don’t mind paying that bit extra to bring their bulky shopping home. We need to do something to help them remember to take their shopping bags along whenever they go out. This is the main reason we are holding a bag making competition,” Abhishek says. Maybe someone could develop an app for mobiles that would be like an alarm so people can remember to carry their own bags? “Or maybe the attractive bags could be hung neatly somewhere near the door?” He asks.
“This bag making competition will be held on 16 December, and is open to all other schools who would like to join in,” Poonam Sharma says.

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida, presents their CSR initiative – ‘Muskaan’

A part of their CSR activity, the Jaipuria Institute of Management or Jaipuria Institute on Management Noida hosted project “Muskaan” as a part of their college festival Udaan on November 26th 2011. This was done as an attempt to bring some smile and joy into the lives of underprivileged kids from organizations like Grace India and Oxfam.
The Jaipuria team had planned to start the event by bringing around 50 children from both orphanages to spend the day with their team members and volunteers, hoping to spread a little bit of happiness and joy into their lives. Initiated by their founder Dr. J.D Singh, this project has gained a lot of popularity and attention of both the students and faculties. The motto behind Muskaan was that being an educational institute, it is their right to spread knowledge and goodwill to those who cannot afford their own.
Being management students, the Jaipuria team behind Muskaan understood the need for CSR in today’s world. They decided to integrate this unique project with Udaan and started by announcing the project a week before Udaan was supposed to be held. This helped them collect hundreds of donated clothes, shoes, bed sheets and other items, some of them almost brand new. Sponsorship started pouring in soon, in the form of cash donations by both students and the faculties, leading them to collect almost Rupees 15,000 this year. Conglomerates and private firms like Shipra Ltd offered free meals for these children once they were brought to the campus.
Northwest group sent in their help in the form of cash elements, while stationary, books, colors and other products worth Rs.1000 was donated by Suvidha store. Coca Cola sent the Jaipuria team 5 Limca book of Records, that were used as prizes to give away to these children, while Jumpin offered free fruit drinks to them. Project Muskaan started with the organizing committee brining a group of underprivileged students to the Jaipuria campus.
The bus ride involved a lot of fun and games, followed by their arrival into the college campus. The group was split into above 12 and below 12 years for a special painting competition too, where the younger group had to participate in a poster making contest and the older group in a pot painting competition and this was followed by a movie screening, lunch and lastly, a cake cutting celebration. All in all, the young Jaipuria Noida members created a fun-filled and joyous day for these special children.
Dr Anup K. Singh, Director, Jaipuria, Noida said, that the purpose of initiating this event was to make the students learn to “contribute to society. This whole event was conceptualized to make our students more socially sensitive, and more socially responsible. This is a learning exercise for students- how to first conceptualize the project, how to identify the companies which may support this- on one hand this has been an exercise into management and on the other hand it is an exercise into altruism.”

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida nurtures the student entrepreneur dream club – Illuminati

They are young, they’re spirited, they’re focused and they’re talented. The name Illuminati strangely belongs to no secret club, but to a group of students from the Jaipuria Institute of Management Noida. Established in 2004, the college offers AICTE approved MBA courses. These students came up with a lucrative business idea that is not only promising, but also a successful venture by today’s young management students.
The Illuminati’s motto is to experience the world of business management and create a platform for their fellow students, to promote Jaipuria Noida as the Brand Ambassador among students and make them feel proud about their institute. They started with production of simple collared T-shirts, bearing their college logo on it. The idea was to sell the product to all the students and faculty, as well as the Jaipuria Alumni. The students would then wear the T-shirt outside to promote the product and their institute at the same time. The T-shirts would also be worn during various college festivals and create a mass familiarity with the Jaipuria logo. The T-shirt would also be worn to college by the students on every casual day, to garner more promotion.
But these young entrepreneurs have a well-planned long term goal ahead of them and they plan to start by integrating this plan with the other Jaipuria branches based inLucknow, Jaipur andIndore. The group also plans to start a business collaboration with corporate and conglomerates soon. However they do not want to be restricted to T-shirt making only use their creativity on other products as well. Illuminati’s main idea is to bring back the lost Indian culture into the modern world with the help of rural artisan- creating a symbiotic relationship between the urban and rural economic growth.
Illuminati is today’s young India, they want to start a new business venture, using the strains of rural and traditional India and create a modern, yet deep-rooted journey into the business management world. This young group of like-minded, business-oriented people has come a long way from just being college students. They have paved a path of success for not just themselves, but also for their fellow students and forthcoming batches.
