Jaipuria Institute of Management organises 2nd e-Convocation

Jaipuria Institute of management organises 2nd e-convocation on 17th July 2021, 1023 students awarded Postgraduate diploma.

17th July, New Delhi: Jaipuria Institute of Management, India’s top MBA colleges efficaciously concluded its academic sessions of 2020-2021 with its 2nd E-Convocation inviting tremendous participation from graduating students, distinguished guests, faculties, and alumnus across four campuses from the institute. The annual e-convocation was graced by the honorable Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr. Rashesh Shah, Chairman and CEO, Edelweiss Group.

A total number of 1023 students from Lucknow, Noida, Jaipur, and Indore campuses were conferred with their management degrees through video conferencing. Despite the slow economy, Jaipuria Institute of Management managed to place 945+ students across its four campuses in Lucknow, Noida, Jaipur and Indore in leading companies this year and the placement is still on for the rest students.
The graduating batch was offered various coveted roles in E-commerce, FMCG, Retail & Manufacturing, Banking and Financial Services, Insurance, Analytics, and Consulting. Some of the leading corporates include Flipkart, Deloitte, Henkel, HDFC etc.

Addressing the students during the convocation, Chairman, Shri Sharad Jaipuria &, President of Integral Education Society welcomed all the graduates of the 2019-2021 batch and said “The world has gone through a period of inadequacy, change, adjustments but at the same time the world is adapting to the new ways of living, working, sharing and being. Mr. Jaipuria quoted an example of ‘farmer burring a seed but at the same time, it is planted’ instead of feeling buried. By our situation, we must realize that difficult situations are not meant to bury us but to plant us. Having hope is having an expectation that something good will happen in the future. The change in learning style and adapting to Zoom is itself an infinite hope, and passed the best wishes virtually to the batch”.

He further added, “It is a mixed feeling as we confer management degrees to our students but it is always a proud moment for us as we know that they will shine and keep up the name of Jaipuria Institute of Management in different career paths they choose.

After the welcome address Vice Chairman, Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria shared the progress report of the Jaipuria Institute of Management for the year 2020-2021

“It is my privilege to report the progress of our institution – Lucknow, Noida, Jaipur, and Indore during the academic year 2020-21. In spite of various challenges including the unprecedented time of the Covid-19 pandemic Jaipuria Management institute showed resilience and adaptability in their response and achieved placements close to 90% of its students. We have tried to continuously serve the interest of our stakeholders especially our students during these uncertain times. 230 companies have completed their recruitment process so far including blue-chip and new-age companies. The institution has also received recognition from Indian and international recruiting agencies.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India has ranked our all four campuses among the top 75 and the third campus among the top 100 management institutions in the country including all IITs and IIMs and we look forward to 2020-21 rankings which are going to release very soon. We believe that our students must have global exposure and for the same, we have collaborated with the Ara Business school in New Zealand and a business school in France. This collaboration cover faculty and student exchange, core teaching and research collaborations” Said Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice Chairman.

After the progress report, Mr. Reshesh Shah, Chairman & CEO Edelweiss Group, “Congratulated to all the students who graduated today from Jaipuria Institute Management and said it is the best to graduate for India because if we look at the vaccination rollout or how things are back to normalcy it appears that the worst is behind us and best is the hide of us. Mr. Shah advised students, to incorporate long-term thinking in everything you do. He further added that life is a marathon and treating it like a marathon is very important. In the award ceremony, Sibeli Mukherjee PGDM, 2019-21 from Lucknow, Jyoti Jangid, PGDM in Service Management, 2019-21 from Noida, Shilpi Sharma PGDM, 2019-21 from Jaipur and Ravi Jaiswani, PGDM, 2019-21 from Indore were declared “Best Student” from their respective campuses.

Green ticks, green ticks and green ticks on the career bucket list. Bhavana Tandon and her journey post Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida

Bhavana Tandon was graduating from Jaipuria Institute of Management in the year 2014 and in her graduation ceremony, she had stated one thing clearly to her friend and family- “I see myself at par and competing with IIM graduates henceforth.” It has only been 4 years since then and Bhavana’s career has been witnessing meteoric rise. The young girl has taken three distinct moves in 48 months, each being better from the other.
Baffled by her speed to success- we recently interviewed Bhavana over a cup of coffee, cookies and heartfelt laughter at her home. Bhavana looked immensely relaxed, happy and contented but the fire in her eye- had gotten us amazed. For a girl in her mid twenties, Bhavana is clear and cut-to-the-point about her career goals. In fact, she has always been clear since she remembers. Prior to starting her PGDM journey with Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida, Bhavana was already “The Best All-Round Student” of Daulat Ram College, Delhi University.
Within the span of two years of her PGDM itself, she rose to the position of the student VP of the Finance Club, Core Leader of the HR club, published various papers and articles around Finance, stood as the runner up of the “Six Feet Under”, attended the national Workshop on the Global Economy organized by the B-school, completed a compelling summer project with Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd., emerged with the highest CGPA in her Finance specialization, so on and so forth. For a girl like her- a little training and some good mentorship was enough to do the charm. And so it did!
She walked out of the Jaipuria Noida campus with a placement offer from L&T Finance. She joined the company as a Management Trainee in the Mumbai office and within 8 months was made a Business Credit Analyst and shifted to the city of her choice- Delhi. Where others take a year or two conveniently to make the rise, Bhavana had it in 8 months. “After having the taste of both Branch & HO, I could finally move into the Small & Medium Enterprises Department of L&T Finance Ltd. at the Regional Office, Delhi and that had me immensely excited. The SME sector had me hooked to it since a very long time,” says Bhavana passionately. Two years passed in a whizz with L&T and she decided to shift her base to a more handsomely paying and gratifying opportunity.
In March, 2016 when Bhavana was contacted by Hero Fin Corp, her life had a big change ahead of her. They gave Bhavana the opportunity to join them as an Associate Credit Analyst where she had to sanction the Credit Facilities to SMEs which included clients within and outside the ecosystem. Not just that- she had to head a team. “When I reached Hero Fin Corp, I realized I have to pull my Jaipuria classroom lessons back from my memory to withstand the challenge ahead of me,” she adds. For the first time in her professional life, she had to head a team and she was nervous, but “I had a very good management education backing me there- my professors had taught me to be a sustainable leader whereas others were taught to merely lead.”
Currently Bhavana made another big jump to Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd. and is the Area Credit Senior Manager. She deals with big ticket size loans ranging from Rs. 7.5 Crs to Rs. 15 Crs (Mortgages-LAP and Housing Segment) for North Region and as she hands us over the news, she remarks- “my career has been so far, so good.”

The Founding class graduate- Anshumal Dikshit. His 20 years. 5 industries. 1 dream project.

When you meet the 1997 PGDM alumni Mr. Anshumal Dikshit, it takes very little time to realize the secret behind all that success- the man is a perfect balance of grace and wisdom. Anshumal Dikshit has spent 20 years in the industry and interestingly, across five major sectors. He has tasted the waters of Manufacturing, Media, Banking, IT and Hospitality before he embarked on building his own successful venture as a veteran HR consultant. Today, Anshumal Dikshit runs one of the leading HR consulting agencies of North India- the HR Mantra Consulting and heads the office as its Principal Consultant.
1997 had seen Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow churn out its founding class- a group full of young, dynamic and ambitious professionals who are now creating wonders across the world. The young Lucknow boy Anshumal had stepped out of the campus with a placement offer from Sona Koyo Steering Systems Limited. Having spent couple of years in the Auto component manufacturing industry, he entered the eFunds world with HR Lead and soon shifted to Banking with Citi Group. Where others saw stumbling blocks, Anshumal Dikshit saw steppingstones. He spent considerable tenures across industries, bagging promotions, taking significant hikes, changing profiles to profiles and all that while, he went on learning and gathering valuable experience throughout his journey.

In 2007 Anshumal had an offer from the Oberoi Group. A big task where he had to head the 80 years old group’s Corporate Learning and OD function. “I enjoyed the years immensely there. It was a new sector for me and there was learning at every bend and turn of the road,” remarks Anshumal as he looks back at the years traversed. And then another short stint with Videocon as its Head HR in the Manufacturing unit and then finally Patni Computer Systems happened.
The man who has jumped from one industry to another with an insatiable hunger to learn and experiment new things finally took a pause at Patni for five years. His work earned him great many accolades and praises alongside colleagues’ infinite encouraging words. Atul Kulshreshtha, Vice President Business Services at Capgemini himself says- “I have been twice lucky to have Anshumal as my HR Leader once at IGATE/PATNI and earlier at eFunds/FIS.” Needless to say, experience backed with an endless drive to learn has no substitution, whatsoever.
And just when you will think Anshumal Dikshit has arrived in life, he would surprise you with more stunts in his portfolio. He left Patni, and joined Arvato, headquartered in Gutersloh, Germany. In his words- “As a Country Head for HR, Arvato was a unique opportunity that provided me a strategic direction to the enterprise and it helped me create capability for the next league.” And finally, with all the experience under his belt- he ventured out.
In 2016, Anshumal Dikshit laid down his 20 years plan- HR Mantra Consulting, the vague dream that he had once dreamt inside the classroom of Jaipuria Institute of Management. “I had chosen my specialization with a lot of clarity in my mind but then, to dream is one thing and to execute the dreams- another,” says the charming, handsome and successful alumni of Class 1997. Bottom line- “You got to know when you are ready. Everyone wants to start up today but Experience, you need it even today. The rules are still the same, yes, the games have definitely changed,” concludes Anshumal Dikshit with a broad smile on his face.

The journey of Eduroomz started as Akshay ramped up his team and implemented his idea on small- scale. While Akshay’s dream Start-up was just budding, Jaipuria’s MiDCOM BUSINESS CHALLENGE came as a boon to his team as they were given an opportunity to present their business plan. How could their dreams fail them? They won the title and were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs!

“There is a thing about trust. It helps you achieve great many things,” believes Sulaxmi, the PGDM graduate of Class 2018 of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. Sulaxmi just bagged herself a placement with Capital First and she couldn’t thank her faculty and mentors enough. For her, “had it not been for their unwavering support and the trust of my mother, the journey would have been incomplete.”

How Social Media & Google Search Can help (or Hurt) you in Job Hunt

Are you out of work? You have to hunt out for job now/ Have to change your job. The first thing that comes to mind when you are looking for a new job is putting together a good CV. Yes, you are thinking absolutely right. But this has today become little old-fashioned. Today internet is quite popular with job seekers. In the earlier days, an only way to know about the candidate for interviewer was to read the piece of paper written by the candidate himself called CV aka Resume aka Curriculum Vitae.

A CV used to be a piece of paper- essentially but played a very vital role in deciding a candidate’s destiny. This paper acted as a guessing piece for prospective employers to know your past, present and identify how as an employee you would turn out in future.

It has been quite some time that the new CV is in the town called – Google. All one needs to do is type your name into search engine of Google, and alas what you see if you are anywhere closer to internet which is likely to be… be it FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, your past and present employers sites or any other world of online media much about this can be visible (based on your privacy controls) and they know about your virtual life in and out. Ironically statistics proves that across the globe 35 % to 66 % people are rejected by employers based on findings through Google about them. The causes of rejection can be anything from bad grammar to spell errors, obscene language to bad words for previous employer, or it can be any incongruous content. At the same time your Google presence creatively; impressive network and demonstrated professionalism ay help you to fetch the job very easily.

Are you zapped? So was I. when I thought about it. Today we just cannot imagine our life without Google. Here’s a small piece of advice for all young aspirants to manage their Google CV well. You can oversee your Google search, Fill in your details completely wherever possible, and magnify your online presence.

1. Oversee

Sketch your own personality. The one you would like to be drawn to your prospective employer. The list of adjectives that add acclaim to yourself needs to be identified. It can vary from being professional to disciplined and hardworking; confident to well connected; trustworthy to cheerful disposition just to name a few. Once you have made up your mind, Go and Google yourself. Go to all the possible pages that are visible on first 50 or 100 searches and edit / delete anything that you may feel contradicts the image you wish to carry out. If you find something contradictory, and you don’t know how to remove the same, use again Google for it. Google definitely had answers for your complicated queries and step by step instructions to follow. Be 100 percent assured that you are the only one who needed this, there are many more earlier than you have already had similar doubts. Pick the latest ones from the search options and follow the same.

2. Fill In

Forums: the organized groups on the subject matter are formed on the internet and are available on various social networks are the right places to be in. Join the one that fits you apply and where you can speak up on regular basis and demonstrate that you are an expert in the subject/ area.it is a wise decision to get noticed as a specialist through these forums.

Learning “Business Strategy” with Bela Badhalia- the CEO of Adbhut Jewellery, a day at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur

Over the last decade, women entrepreneurs have long broken the glass ceiling and have been critical drivers of the economy in India. At a latest industry interaction, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur had the opportunity to hear from the dazzling and dynamic Ms. BelaBadhalia, the CEO of Adbhut Jewels who has been the recipient of multiple awards and accolades in the field of Jewellery design, business and execution.

“In order to fulfill your dreams, you need to dream first. And oh, make friends with the failures,” quipped the speaker while sharing her life experiences to the students. Her speech revolved around the importance of effective strategy to run successful business ventures. “Strategy is an action plan and should be drawn keeping long term perspective in mind,” remarked Bela Badhalia.

Enumerating the challenges poised by the latest economic changes in India, she insisted students to stay in touch with the strategy of the company or the organization they are working with. “I had to change my plans and strategies during the time of demonetization. The sudden government policy introduced limit on monetary value for purchasing jewellery, therefore, I had to almost change the product portfolio within the wink of an eye and it would not have been possible had I not stayed in close touch with the Strategy of my business. You need to align your business goals with the vision you had started the business with, in the very first place.”

She further shed light on various aspects of strategic management by stating importance of setting vision and mission for the organization, choosing a product/service depending upon the market, making detailed analysis of external environment and organizational strengths, and to formulate strategies to meet the desired objectives. She advocated setting SMART goals and to break the long-term goals into annual goals to achieve them.

Bela Badhalia is also known for Dyuti- a start up initiative for generating employment for women in the jewellery industry. Passionately fighting for women rights and fetching means to bring women empowerment, Bela Badhalia’s Dyuti served as a complete inspiration for the PGDM students of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur.

111 PGDM students conferred diplomas on the 6th Annual Convocation Ceremony of Jaipuria Indore

Convocation days stay forever in the heart of graduates and April 22, 2018 was one such for Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore students. It was an affair of elegance, poise and absolute motivation- one that saw 111 PGDM graduates taking their diplomas and walking down the aisle- proud and beaming with joy. 2 years passed within the wink of an eye and there was a sense of absolute mirth everywhere. After all, the big day had arrived!

Soft music filled the air. As the clock stroke 1pm, friends and families of the graduates started arriving in the auditorium. The stage looked grander than ever. The hall glimmered with an overwhelming spirit of celebration. The red carpet was spread. There was magnolia and orchids everywhere. Shri Deepak Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Technical Education and Skill Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh was the Chief Guest for the 6th Convocation ceremony.

The clock stroke 1.30pm and the convocation procession entered the auditorium. Shri. Sharad Jaipuria, Chairman, Board of Governors, Jaipuria Group lead the gathering with Chief Guest Shri Deepak Joshi and Guest of Honour- Shri. Satish Borwankar, Chief Operating Officer & Executive Director, Tata Motors Ltd walking beside him. Following the dignitaries were proudly robed faculty and the graduates.

Shri Sharad Jaipuria declared open the Convocation ceremony. Chief Guest, Shri. Deepak Joshi along with the Guest of Honour- Shri. Satish Borwankar unveiled the annual magazine of Jaipuria, Indore- Srijan. The ceremony proceeded with Dr. Harshavardhan Halve, Director, Jaipuria, Indore reading the report for the academic sessions 2017 – 2018.

The report gave an account of all the milestones achieved during the last academic year. The report highlighted the initiatives taken in the area of academic excellence, research projects, management development, faculty development and consultancy projects. “More than 60% students achieved paid internships, a big leap from the figure of 30% last year,” elaborated Dr. Halve. Among top companies which have been repeatedly recruiting from Jaipuria Indore such as Deloitte, ITC, Euromoniter International, Pepsico, Various Banks and Microfinance companies for final placements, 27 new recruiters have been added to the list.

The ceremony progressed by conferring Post Graduation Diplomas in Management to 111 students of PGDM batch 2016-18. Ms. Divya Sethia was awarded the Chairman’s Gold, Solanki Khushal Chaturbhai with the Vice-Chairperson’s Silver and Insiya Ali with Director’s Bronze Medals.

Shri. Deepak Joshi was invited on the podium to deliver the Convocation address. “I congratulate each one of you for being where you are today,” remarked the Chief Guest. He shared his views on leadership and enlightened students about the various skills one must acquire in their journey called Life. He talked of the importance of professional knowledge and competence, vision, courage, integrity, humility and strategic planning which a person should develop in order to become a successful leader. He ended on a note that, “A good leader is the one who takes a little more of blame and a little less of credit.”

The event came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Shri. Shreevats Jaipuria, Vice Chairman, Jaipuria Institute of Management, to the dignitaries. He also thanked Dr. Harshavardhan Halve, Director, Jaipuria Indore, for being a constant motivation to the students and wished the graduating class- “a glorious future ahead!”
